Hi folks,

I am interested in this Speedmaster. A 145.022-74

I have had a few Speedmaster models but have never seen this color of luminous material. Can you tell me if it is original or if it has been artificially added?

And another question on the side - is the dial still correct for the reference mentioned above?

Thank you very much.

The lume on the dial is consistent with other -74 i see, a bit fluffy and the underlying white marker is showing the corners. Almost like the lume shrunk. I am not sure about the hour hand from these pictures because it looks so even / same colour through out, a bit like a more recent relume. It is not upsetting or bad looking to me, and could be a non issue when seen in real.

The colour of that lume is different than other 74's I've seen. Based on the 2nd photo, the lume also looks more granular/grainy that i would expect. This is to say, I would expect some granularity, but this watch's lume looks extremely grainy and brittle. The partially exposed white marker under the lume is normal for this refrence.

Is the asking price on this very low? Have you seen photos of the movement to see if there has been any moisture ingress?

Personally, I would wait to find a better 74 with a nice cream/yellow patina on the lume.

Good morning,

Any other opinions on the luminous material? I personally like the overall look very much, but that is of course a matter of taste.

Is the watch as a whole correct?

You want us to assess the correctness and the quality of the watch?
Let´s turn it around - what is the offered price?
😉

Many thanks for the answer. I can assess the condition myself and I think it is correct. But a second opinion would be very important to me here and I would be happy to receive feedback.

What I can't assess, as I haven't seen it like this before, is the color or patina of the luminous material. Hence the initial question as to whether anyone can confirm that it is original or not. The watch is said to cost around 4200€.

Thank you very much

Have you handled the watch yourself, and maybe looked at the lume with a loupe?
In door, and outdoor?

I think that it would be hard (for me) to give you advice regarding the lume....

And 4200 € feels a bit high....?
How would you grade the watch (using Speedmaster101´s chart)??

Based on the Speedmaster101 chart it should be around 3000€…… but at this point, the price is for me not so important. I would be more interested to know whether the luminous material is still original. But this seems difficult to answer.

Sorry, I forgot to answer that.... I have not had the watch in my hands myself and only received these pictures.

OK, so no pictures showing the case from different angles, no pictures of the caseback...?
But the price is not important?

I have a couple of important points (for me) when looking at Speedys:
The Do You Like The Watchometer
The Do you Want The Watchometer (copyright @Davidt 😀)

And of course the price...!

I think that you should think about these above before you pull the trigger?

Perhaps we have misunderstood each other. I'm not talking about an assessment between price and watch. Otherwise I would have written the title accordingly and asked “What do you think of this watch?”

I just wanted to know if anyone can say for sure whether the luminous material is original or not. I also asked if anyone could comment on the originality of the dial, hands and movement.

All in all, this is not intended to be a purchase advice.

Thank you very much
