·Hi Forum Friends!
The weather here in Sweden is dark and grey…and cold...
So why not another (never ending) auction report on Speedys.
😃
This one appeared a while ago, and the pictures showed a very promising watch.
The auction house was not so skilled regarding watches, and did not have much info (to start with).
There were only a few pictures, no info regarding the reference, and a silly low estimate.
Looking at the pictures (the first 3), the facet lines showed that it was a 105.012-66 CB - YAY
!
I think we can agree that nice conditioned Speedys with a 321 movement are getting harder and harder to find (on auctions)?
Since the auction was on a few platsforms, it got lots of attention!
And lots of people with lots of questions…
The auction house finally understood that they had to take more pictures, and also more info.
I think that they changed the description 2-3 times, with more and more info, and extra pictures every time.
They even opened up the watch, and showed the movement, and the reference.
A funny thing - the one who opened the watch got an sticky surprise…😬
With a new bunch of pictures, it was time to assess the watch.
And the lume on the dial was the part that needed to be studied....
All of them had discoloration, some more, some less.
It did not actually look weird, the watch had a nice vibe, and looked very honest and pleasing.
It had a service crown, which could be changed to a correct one when serviced.
The bracelet was a 1035, with nr 16 and nr 516 endlinks.
I had to find out about the condition of the dial.
I did zoom in and tried to process the pictures, and I found some weird marks close to the lume.
Something had moved from the lume on to the dial, and it did not look so nice….
And this made hesitate, and I finally skipped on the watch.
I did follow the auction (of course…)!
The lot came up and the auction started, there were lots and lots of bids, and the hammer finally fell on ????
The watch was going to US and A, so maybe a Forum member got it?
But this time - why not let the Forum assess the watch, and also guess what the watch was sold for?
We all need to use them grey brain cells….
Those who did follow the auction - please do not reveal the price?
Have Fun!
