@cagkut
I hope I'm wrong but I don't think this is going to end in your favor. Take a deep breath, learn from it, and perhaps take the advice of @cell1010 Re: It might be a worthwhile project to return this watch to factory specs. Naming it, sourcing a correct movement and chrono hand.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

I should have checked and discovered the movement issue earlier, that's for sure. He on the other hand presented the watch as 100% correct. In principle he should take it back. If he doesn't, I will not start a fight on this. The watch is beautiful with the tropical dial and the case is in good shape. As long as the movement is not a total bogus which I understand it isn't, I will keep it cause although there comes much better deals every now and then, this one came at a reasonable price...

I think the legal way won't be very satisfactory in the end and will for sure be a pain in the back side along the way. If you are totally unhappy with it and you don't want to invest the time to source correct parts, sell the watch in parts. This will make some collectors happy that search dial, bezel etc of an Ed White and you will for sure get your money back...

Tough call, and a tough experience, however it ends. Luckily, if you suffer no financial loss, you will have moved a long way down the learning curve, which will serve you well.

Could be a lot worse...at least there wasn't a paper clip in the movement.

Well you know what? I decided to keep it. It is beautiful, the engine works flawlessly so who cares if the 321 stamp is there or not, it's like my Monster 600 which I turned to 680, a modified beauty. Also I could'nt have bought another tropical dial for this price, why part with that just for a stupid balance bridge stamp ::rimshot::

Good for you...at the end of the day, if you like it, that is all that matters. And it is a looker, that is for sure!

Looking good! I know we covered the chrono hand, but it looks like the hour and minute hand are also not quite 'correct ' for the model. I think these are from a Deville as denoted by the lume being short and not quite making it to the inner end of the hand - a detail only us geeks here would notice I think.

Yes I am also aware about the hands but they didn't bother me at all. This watch comes from a very hot and humid area as most tropical dials do and I reckon it's OK that the hands may not survive several decades and they get replaced (cool thing if they do survive of course)..

Hello, after some thought and a brief discussion with the seller he agreed to a swap where he takes the 105.003 and gives me this plus $2K.
It is as you already know a 1969 145.022 with a 1116/575. It had a DNN bezel which I asked to swap with the 105.033 DON which he agreed, so I took the deal. Actually this watch below gives me much more pleasure than the Ed White but OTOH, I am now thinking if I should keep that one too, for its brown dial and case. What do you guys think? I know it's worth more than what I'll pay if I parted it out and put the dial/bezel/case and movement parts for sale, not sure if I want to do that.

Why did you get it in the first place? I'm not sure I understand. Are you asking if you should part it to get more out of it ?

The thread is actually all about this story. I didn't get it to resell, but when I buy a watch I want to make sure that I am able to sell it if and when I want to, which would be difficult with a vintage watch with no serial number. OTOH, because of its brown dial, I am itching to keep it too while initially I had no intensions two buy 2 Speedies at once... I guess I'm just looking out for some support now 😗😗

IMHO, why buy one when you can have two? Just make sure the price for the 105.003 is really, really, really good. it will be a problem to sell later, so no more than VAP for the parts that have value.

I'm also leaning that way, what would be a really good price you reckon? Considering the dial, bezel and the case leaving out the movement?

price of a Running 105.003-65 is $6200.

price of a movement (on ebay) maybe $2000-$2500-ish

subjective opinion on where the case, dial, bezel etc land on the chart, so up to you to decide.

alternatively, estimate prices for each of case, dial, bezel and offer that.

best guess, $4000-$6000 depending on where you land on the condition of the parts. I'm closer to $4K than 6. Personally, I'm not attracted to the dial. the bezel is OK, but not great. Case is probably the best part IMHO.
