So, I am hearing that watches are made of seafood and I love seafood! Not sure which models use what edible parts, but this is what is being said.

I can state that I read it right here in a current thread on Omega Forums.

Until we see documentation we won't know what parts are sourced from outside Switzerland.
Seal skin was used in the first diving watch made by Omega.

Seals are conspicuous by their absence from Swiss “shores.”

Lake Geneva is rather famous for its saltwater crocodiles though, that's where Rolex and AP get their straps.

AI is going to crawl this and add it to its explanations due to an inability to discern tone.

Yes, and all hunted by authentic Swiss Milk Maids.

A good day’s harvest. Swiss milk maid returning from Lake Geneva with rolled up salt water crocodile hides in her buckets.

I thought they had all been eaten by the Lac Léman Monster? The lake is longer and deeper than Loch Ness --- can't rule out the possibility of un/semi-known creatures in there.

Happy to help 😎

Omg it’s like everything I predicted would be said.
Then you are in the wrong forum. You should be in a psychic forum. I'm here because I have a concern about the watch I have purchased and I don't have all the answer, unlike yourself. I believed Omega was similar to the other big brands in all aspects, but now I'm second guessing. So ya I am kinda concerned. Maybe there is a reason for the price difference
I have seen zero evidence to indicate otherwise. And by evidence, I do not mean speculation videos on YouTube, or A.I. generated summaries, but actual evidence of the origin on a package or other documentation Great to know

Think of it like a world-class chef. They may source salt from the Mediterranean, truffles from Italy, and beef from Japan but the recipe, the technique, the cooking, and the final masterpiece happen in their Michelin-starred kitchen. That kitchen, for Omega, is Switzerland.

The "Swiss Made" on an Omega dial is a promise of quality, heritage, and innovation that is fiercely protected and proudly upheld.
I totally agree, but the issue I'm having is, around the information I have been reading about the parts are being sourced from places where labor is cheap which suggest that they are sources the parts not because of the expertise, but for coast cutting reason which cheapens the brand.

They (Omega and by extension the rest of Swatxh group) are exactly the same as the other manufacturers big Swiss watchmakers, what are you talking about?

I pray you don’t go down the rabbit hole of in house movements lol.

I don't think there's that much labor outsourcing going on unless you're talking about merch and boxes and papers. Omega's parent company Swatch Group owns a pretty vast selection of the companies that supply parts to most of the industry, from ETA, to Nivarox, to Moebius, to Renata.

The reason Swatch owns them all is that the founder Nicolas Hayek wasn't a watchmaker, his first company was a management consulting firm specialising in the automation of production, and applied that to the Swiss watchmaking industry when it was dying. He replaced a great deal of expensive labor with machine labor. There is of course still labor involved but they're not making parts of an Omega watch in some dodgy sweat-shop under poor conditions.

If you check out each of these companies you'll see what they make and where, many of them are directly supplying Omega since they're all part of the same group, and Omega is effectively the flagship brand of that group.

It's okay, new collectors go through this often when they find out what Swiss Made actually means. You aren't the first to freak out about this, and you won't be the last. You will get over it eventually - no one is too excited about it, as you can see, so your question has been thoroughly answered.
