I finally got one. Just kept on making lower offers and finally did a deal. Bnib with all covers in tact.
Thing is I haven't opened it yet as I feel I paid too much and don't want to de-value it. Why I don't know as I don't buy to sell.

Sometimes it's the thrill of the chase which drives the pursuit long after the desire to actually catch the item has passed. Maybe just sit on the watch for a little while and see which way you're moved. Catch and release situations happen to all of us at some point in this hobby.

Still watching prices on these myself. Seems they are still between $12k - $13k BNIB. I'll be patient for them to drop closer to MSRP and then buy. Great piece, but crazy prices.

In my humble opinion, the Snoopys have been, and will be, coming down slightly in price. But I won't bet on it coming down a lot. There's still quite strong demand, but buyers have been waiting a while and most seem to be betting for pricing to drop further. On the other hand, most dealers/"flippers" don't want to accept anything under US$10K now. Go on Chrono24 and there's no shortage of sellers. I want one too, but it's a nice to have, and I'm willing to wait indefinitely. At some point, people will want to get their cash back so they can buy the next hot thing to flip. Nobody in biz likes to sit on inventory for too long. Slightly different take on the CK2998 - plenty of sellers now, and pricing is fairly reasonable in many cases.

I'm not sure they have been coming down. They still aren't below £9000 and this is where they were in April. If I get one I would like it before March as a wedding present to myself.

I think they will settle at around 8k plus for a used item. The bnib will get harder to find and these will demand a premium As they fall into private hands and not flippers they will become more rare and as these people will be paying higher prices they will require higher offers to release them. This is a lovely time piece and the case back is a work of art I can now see why people won't sell for less.
All my personal opinion.

A bit like mine then.... Still in the plastic box direct from the AD. Will i sell it? Who knows. When and if I do... it will remain unworn, in the plastic box and stickers in place.

Some people say just wear the damn thing but I have no need to.

I'm curious why you're holding on to it? Unsure if you actually want it to wear it in your rotation or if it has a place therein? Not challenging your decision at all, just interested in your thought process with the watch.

With pleasure I will explain.

Cast your mind back to the first day launch pictures were shown to all...

Well, I requested with my local AD that I would like one while he was actually sat placing his order on the Omega stand in Basel. I was lucky and the order was placed. Little did I, or anyone else for that matter know that there was going to be a huge issue with the case backs that would cause a huge delay in people receiving their watch. Now after all the waiting and seeing more and more images of watches arriving etc, the excitement of it all had worn off tbh.

Fast forward to July this year.... My watch has arrived. I have bought it because I know if I turned it down and made that mistake I would not get another that was new from a dealer at retail.

It was the watch I was buying to remember my grand parents by but due to the wait I had bought something else.

It sits in its plastic box, not worn and with every protective cover on it from new. So holding on to it for the value purpose and seeing current selling prices I have decided to leave it as unworn as in 30 years time (if I still have it) a mint snoopy will fetch good money or at least we all hope. Maybe one day I will wear it.

A few people on here know I have quite a large collection and I have plenty to rotate.

I have a feeling they'll go back down - there were crazy delays in production resulting in some very impatient buyers, and generally more buyers than sellers. However, once everyone who ordered one originally gets it, we'll see some start to sell them, and then prices will return to normal. This is what I believe will happen, but I could be wrong since it appears the cartoon dog on the dial appeals to a wider audience than most LE Speedmasters do.
However, it should be noted that while you see many people asking $20k or $15k (nowadays $13k), it doesn't necessarily mean that people are eventually buying at that price.
Also in Italy it was so, but now the demand suddenly dropped .... I would expect

One future issue, is that all those who paid over the odds, will want to recoup as much as possible back when and if they decide to sell. With so much chioce out there, hopefully buyers won t pay it and prices will return to a sensible level. I think paying over the odds, is a daft idea right now because tastes change and something more desirable comes along. The classic speedmaster will always be desirable because it has a clean simple and classic design that is hard to improve on, watches such as the snoopy and the Ck2998 a subject to buyers whims and rare doesn t always mean desirable. The Omega Bullhead is rare, atleast rarer than a snoopy or a CK2998, 669 peices for each design, you can hardly give them away. I would wait for a couple of years to let the market settle and buy something else in the mean time. It also gives you the excuse to buy something else while you're u are waiting.
you're right .!!! . imagine if next year Omega implements a new speed with Snoopy in color and with a different dial ..... everyone will want one ..... and that silver will drop in price ......

Unlikely - Its to commemorate a Mission milestone (Apollo 13) they won't go putting cartoon character Snoopy on a dial for ages. Last one was 2003.

I think Omega know it would cause an absolute shit storm!

I'm kinda in the same boat - bought as a keeper, afraid to pull off stickers, wear, and devalue.

It's tough as always it's a supply and demand dilemma. I'm sure there's more members out there that have more insight and knowledge that can weigh in. IMHO once a flux of owners decide to sell... the price will take a dip... Thus causing more to sell in fear of dropping value. Then the buyers will step in and swoop them right up bringing the price back up and stabilizing slightly lower than current market value.

In the end as long as there are people willing to spend Snoopy money... then the price will stay over the moon =)

I think that with each passing Basel, and with each "hot new watch" the snoopy will come down.
This watch really took on a life of its own, and became a status symbol and a coo for collectors who would have otherwise had no interest in it.

Admittedly, I had no interest when I saw it, and politely declined the opportunity to have one reserved for me...not my style, and I didn't think I would enjoy wearing it... after I saw what was happening, I regretted that decision, not because of the investment potential (I have a job, I don't need my hobby to generate income), but because I felt like I should have one as a collector.

I couldn't bring myself to pay over 10k on a watch I didn't really love, so I just let it go, and haven't looked back...but I did get briefly caught up in the hype... and almost bought something I didn't really ever want...

I think that there are more than a few out there who got caught up in the hype, and the opportunity to get such a rare item temporarily blocked out any rational thought. Then there are others who would have had no interest in it who bought one, just because they could, or were offered on at MSRP by their AD etc. Those with no emotional attachment will sell off in the future after the bubble starts to break a little...
There was a time when beanie babies were selling at huge premiums....
The problem with BNIB snoopy future value is the same problem with comic books and hockey cards.... when people think it will be valuable, they stop reading them/trading them and just put them in a glass box.... it no longer becomes rare...

There will be no shortage of BNIB snoopys perfectly preserved. Which is kind of a shame...

I thought I had finally got my hands on a Snoopy Watch today when one came up on Chrono24 at €8500 (£7600) from a watch dealer in Italy. I promptly paid only to receive an email an hour later saying they had to cancel as they had listed it too cheap and that if I still wanted it i'd have to pay €10500 :-( I declined and they've said they will reimburse my account asap. Meanwhile, there is another Snoopy for sale in Germany at £7300. I'm half tempted to make the additional 6hr journey whilst I'm in Belgium in 2 weeks.

I bought this one to wear and enjoy. I love the idea of having an unworn piece 30 years from now, but I decided that wearing it was a better choice for me.
