Omega SM300 Trilogy - How to know if fake?

Hi guys,

I’m looking to buy an SM300 Trilogy.

I managed to find a seller who is willing to sell it a little above retail, and he has a good relationship with the dealer. He is a friend of a friend, but he is not known to be a seller.

I am worried that the watch could be a fake, but the odds of it being so don’t seem so. It comes with full box and papers, and he might even still have the original receipt from the OB.

Should I have it serviced to make sure?

Any tips? I have been on the fence about the buy because of this.

There aren't many (any?) fakes out there of the SM300 Trilogy that I have noticed so it is probably fine. Be aware that these normally change hands at around 75-90% of the current retail even when a perfect full set so your friend of a friend might not be as pally as you think. If it was sourced through official channel originally it will still have the balance of the 5 year warranty left which will be at least 1-2 years minimum. It most likely wont need a service and if it did the warranty would cover it. If there is no warranty applicable for any reason, (such as it was a grey market sale originally) I would walk away. These aren't all that scarce, they made thousands, 3.5K I seem to recall.

If you post a pic of the watch we can offer an opinion on if it is genuine, but as I say, I would want it at less than £5K GBP rather than the £6K current RRP

Some folks got it even cheaper. The market seems to have dried up some on these though (at least when I did a quick search a few days ago)...

Maybe so. One sold on here for less than $5k usd in Jan this year though and another last Dec so they were available for pretty cheap very recently.

That makes sense.
He might have heard the glee in my voice when I heard it was for sale.
Price is still negotiable, so I'll keep that in mind.

I've been saving up for this for almost a year, so I'm just a little worried that something will go wrong.
I'll send pictures for added info.

Thanks guys!

i work with EBay Authentication Team.
Send me the watch, I’ll look at it.
I’ll send it back if it doesn’t pass.

I’ll send it back after I break the stem off the crown and sell the bracelet.

FIFY! 😉

Watch looks genuine. The bracelet on these looks pretty but is actually rather chunky, I preferred them on the leather strap. The beige strap provided with the SM is the least nice colour of the 3 though IMO.

Thanks. I have the Railmaster, which I wear only on a leather strap.
I wanted to get the SM to wear on the bracelet as a tool watch.
Fingers crossed!
