Just in case anyone has sent or plans to send their Omega to the New Jersey service center, I received the estimate today and the service lead time said 9 weeks. Not complaining, as I’m sure there’s a COVID-related backlog and perhaps some spare parts issues from Switzerland.

I sent them my Seamaster 300 Master Coaxial, which I purchased in 2015. I noticed a relatively sudden change in performance from around +1.2 seconds per day to over 6, and figured at the 6yr mark it was time. One of the observations surprised me, however: the technician noted the watch was magnetized. I don’t remember any 15,000 Gauss experiences, but who knows?

9 to 12 weeks is normal for the Secaucus service center. They aren’t noted for their turnaround time.

Master Co-Axial and Chronometer watches can still get magnetized.

It did what it was supposed to do... keep the movement from deviating outside of spec. It can still affect the rate.

Remember, field strength is inverse cube with distance.
