I have been recently interested in adding an Omega to my collection, but have always been a speedmaster fan boy. It is simply just hard for me not to love those speedmasters with all my heart. With that said, I think its time I look into a Seamaster, and perhaps the Planet Ocean 600m that I have been reading about on https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-blog/watch-review/omega-seamaster-planet-ocean-600m.html , it just has so many options and can see myself possibly wearing it very often. I like how theyre limited edition as well as have a set number of pieces available. I just find those two factors to be really cool. Of course, before I dive into the purchase of this beauty, I want opinions on where you see this model standing in a few years. Do you see the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m as an investment watch or am I simply buying it for personal interest and style? Looking forward to seeing some opinions revolving this piece. Thanks!

Simple, it's not an investment watch. Unless you have a crystal ball on this one, you're wearing it for personal enjoyment and style.

Got mine couple of weeks ago, absolutely love it, wear it every day, work and play, not bothered what it will be worth in 10 years time.

I have a 1/80 LE (Casamigos PO) and I doubt even this will be an "investment" piece. Buy for your own enjoyment.

Maybe I'm missing something but as far as I know the Seamaster Planet Ocean is not any kind of numbered limited edition. It is a badass watch though! I have the 45mm chrono version and love it. It's my go anywhere, do anything watch now and I wear it every day. Short of the Ploprof, it's got to be the most heavy duty watch Omega makes.

There are only a handful of watch brands and then only certain models within those brands that are considered investment grade and approved by the IRS for inclusion in your retirement account (LOL, just kidding.)

Personally, I would not buy any watch with the idea that it's some kind of investment. *Especially* if you plan to wear it and scratch it up.

Again, my personal opinion, I think the current manias going on are just because some people have way too much disposable income and nothing else to do right now. I might be wrong but I think that people who paid $20K for a $9K watch are not going to have a favorable ROI.

I would recommend you buy the watch that speaks to you and that you will enjoy wearing every day. If you're looking for an investment, buy real property or gold.

Said this a couple of weeks ago on this forum....If you want it, buy it, wear it and enjoy it. If it gains in value, it's a bonus. At the very least, it'll last you a lifetime.

There was, of course, the highly collectible 2009 Planet Ocean Liquid Metal Limited Edition....here's a nice write up about it, back from last year........https://www.ablogtowatch.com/planet-ocean-full-story-omegas-iconic-modern-dive-watch/2/
