OMEGA Seamaster deal or no deal

Hi there, new to omega watches. I have been into restoring/servicing vintage watches for a bit and am looking at this Omega Seamaster. Listing shows no pictures of movement or inside case back so can’t be sure of what’s inside. Best guess is maybe a 552 movement?

Unsure on the dial as all pictures I see of similar Seamasters have two batons at the 12 marker and this one has singles all the way around. Hands also look like they might not be original?

Any advice as to originality of the dial, hands and guesses to reference number would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

The printing on the dial
Thanks for the response, any specific indication stand out to you?

looks like it was painted after a night of drinking.

Take your time and look at enough watches to pick a good dial from a redial.

You done the right thing by asking here before 😉

And, looking at the case and face, it looks like a fifties watch and is earlier than a 552.

Hahah love that image, but to their credit I think the banged up crystal distorts the printing/makes it look more sloppy than it probably is. Wonder how it’d look out the case

Yes good point, looks like the lugs are more rounded than they should be right?

Does not look too bad in the pictures, but that twist-o-flex may have been snacking on lug for decades.

My guess is crystal distortion, original dial. Not sure where those redial-comments come from.

Case shows significant wear, obviously, but I wouldn’t call those lugs particularly round. Those weren’t laser-sharp to begin with, it’s not a dogleg. Sure, it’s seen some polishing, but not excessively so.

Could be a 14710. Hands look fine to me, the crown doesn’t but who cares.

The dial is dirty / spotty, I’d stay away from this one.

I'm with @hen and @MtV, despite the wrong crown it looks pretty original.

After a crystal polish it will look a lot better! No date, no lume, pretty elegant look!

If it's really a 14710 a quite rare one

So, what's the asking price, can you get better pictures?

Great insight! If it is a 14710 like you referenced, the main difference I’m seeing is the 12 o’clock batons . This dial shows only a single baton whereas the one you referenced has two the the 12 o’clock. Is that a give away of a re-dial or where there maybe ones made this way?

Also the hands on this one have a ride running down the middle length and the seconds hand has no discernible hole in the center.

Usually there are a lot of dial variations, I don't think the single baton at 12 is a problem here...

Was able to get some photos of the movement, it is being sold as a non runner. Looks like it’s at 165.010 with a 552 movement. There is what appears to be a bridge screw sitting there on the automatic works wheel which could explain the non running status. Hopefully not too much damage done🤷‍♂️ and looks like it’s from the automatic works bridge as seen on the top right of the photo (picture with the rotor in the top left quadrant). Could be an easy fix…or a disaster haha
