As a few others have stated, I love the watch, but the price ensures I will never own one, even on the secondary market.

With the (probably) very limited demand for them, who knows😉

+1 I thought it was a cheaper version of the Seamaster wave dial and then saw the price. Ridiculous!!!

Yes, me too, I thought it was a no date manual simple 3 hand and was going to be an entry level piece.

Came here so see if the price on Hodinkee was correct or if it was meant to be 4,800...obviously it's not

A cool watch but....nearly 50k?

For the sake of a (hypothetical) discussion, what would be the thoughts if this watch was $4,800.00 instead??

Would this become an instant "hit" or would it still be a relatively confidential watch with low volumes? What are your thoughts?

I think there would certainly be a market for it at 5k.

I think Omega fans would appreciate the new tech and crown functionality and styling.

Still probably a somewhat niche watch but can see how it would appeal in the manner of the Z-33, X-33 etc...

Taking a $6k watch design and doing this is truly ridiculous, using a different material for the movement and case (Gold or Platinum maybe!) doesn't really create something that really stands out and says "Buy Me!!" In the end it's just a Planet Ocean with a retractable crown, overwhelming price, underwhelming concept.

I really like the design (colors, strap, no date), and while I was reading the Hodinkee article I started thinking that maybe I would flip my current AT for one if it was priced similarly to the Seamaster 300 or Planet Ocean Ti pieces. Then I got to the price...

Last time I bought myself a $48K toy it was a CPO Porsche 911. Can’t see choosing a basic 3 hand watch over a screaming flat 6.

Nice design but I would want a lot more watch for that kind of money. Even if I was beyond stupid rich, I would still feel I was getting the Emperors new clothes.

Now I'm over the price, on a technical note, aside from it being slightly lighter and the removal of the auto mechanism there is no mention of anything making it especially shock resistant over the normal caliber?

There more I read about it the less sense this watch makes.

After an additional 50 years of Seamaster research and development the latest Ultra Light is ….overweight.

Love the push in crown
Yes, some of us NEED symmetry.

Quite honestly, I'd be more impressed if it was 300M water resistance for this price range. I don't find it to be a versatile watch at the $35k-$40k range with 150M.
Isn't the recreational diving limit 40m? Why would a non-dive watch need anything more than 100m?

Yup, the double sapphire doesn't help

Seriously, why so expensive? I can only assume titanium is cheaper than precious metals. Not that I'd ever be in the market for a $50k watch, but if I were, if expect it to be platinum or carved out of Moon rock or something. Especially, with exactly zero complications.

Beautiful and impressive, but not at that price.

I must admit to not being terribly familiar with the Aqua Terra range so was even more surprised to see the 'Aqua Terra Golf' which looks incredibly similar but is S/S and without the telescopic crown...and it's er...£5k.

I am the only one that thinks Omega should perhaps put out an official comment on the pricing to in some way at least attempt to justify it?

I can't help but feel it's some kind of error or typo.

For the first time I browsed the Omega

Collections (I am more into vintage) and this is, from memory if not the most expensive certainly in the top handful.

Can it really be right?

Oddly I haven't seen a single watch blog mention anything adverse to the pricing either...instead extolling the virtues of this watch to be worn during sports like it's a cheap quartz!

You are actually very optimistic. IMO it will be even difficult to have it seen, as most likely apart of OB, no AD will have it sampled, as afterwards they will have to get rid of it at 80-90% discount!

No you aren’t, so I asked: “...other costs factored in such as research and development, design, and consultation with professional athletes”.

An error of judgment perhaps but not a typo.

Engineering excellence screwed by marketing madness.

It’s the instantaneous pressure generated by someone diving into water from the side of a pool or from a diving board that is the real reason for having higher depth ratings.

Yes, but that seems confined to the case of the watch being already in the medium, I was considering the case of transitioning between them which is much harder to apply simple math to, we now need to consider the interaction of a compressible and essentially incompressible medium, the position of the watch relative to hands etc... agree though that it may not be as clear cut as my post made out!
