"Ultra Light" - "Built with less weight and more comfort in mind, OMEGA’s striking new sports watch has achieved its on unique fit and feel. It’s the ideal companion for any game you play and weighs just 55 grams on its sporty fabric strap. (72 HOURSPOWER RESERVE, Manual Winding)"

Just to compare the specs i put a ~25 year old Stainless Steel Blancpain Leman (on Hirsch Leather strap) on a weighing-machine. It is an Automatic caliber with 2 Spring barrels and 100 hours power reserve, as well as 100m Water resistance.
You could have at least posted it dial side up!

The price is the reflection of the R&D but more importantly the very likely inefficient production using the new materials. Most new tech starts off high priced and then normalize as the manufacturing processes become better.

I do hope they release the sports loop for the rest of the AT line.

I don't get the price. I'll take Eve's Blancpain instead!! Omega seems to be all over the place. In terms of design, the AT originally had a roughly symmetrical case with no crown guard; then, in 2008 through 2014, it had an asymmetrical case with the crown-side extending around the crown somewhat; then, in 2017 it went back to a symmetrical case with an unprotected crown...and here we are again. Also, I don't get the weight...has anyone measured their Seamaster Ceramic/Titanium? I would venture it's pretty close if not lighter.

I know Omega overcharges for Titanium, but damn son. But hey, a Titanium movement is pretty cool.

There's likely not a lot of R&D involved here, at least for the movement. Omega is well versed in the use of Ti, and I doubt that using it for the movement resulted in any serious engineering challenges. Given how stable the material is compared to brass (linear thermal expansion coefficient is about 1/2 of that for brass) it certainly doesn't pose a serious challenge from that standpoint.

The Gamma Titanium (titanium aluminide) is sort of a puzzling choice for a watch case material. It's primary beneficial characteristic is it's ability to maintain strength at high temperatures so of what practical use is this in a watch case? Maybe because of the catchy name?

Lots and lots of work in the marketing department. That is why the price is so high.

The instagram video looked like an advertisement for Slinky--with a watch in it.

I feel like this Omega TA is an answer to a question that nobody asked.

Is there an market for a $50k+ (after tax), full Ti, 3-hands, manual wind TA? Does it compete with RM? Cause that's the only ultra light "sports" watch that comes to mind.

That was what came to mind for me immediately on seeing the pricing - they are going after the "I can't quite afford an RM" crowd maybe?

Clearly, the marketing department made a mistake. This was supposed to come out 5 months ago, right before April.

Well, I for one, am glad that I didn't get up early to start refreshing on omega this am. I was looking at the watch, and thought that it was a nice idea, with a lot of great features. I didn't know the price until I read through the thread.

Seriously Omega? I can think of a lot of watches at that price point that I would rather own. Correct my math if I am off, but I could get a Snoopy, and a ST1 and ST2 for the same price?

Must be made from Unobtainum - stupid expensive. As I said in the other thread, I'd much rather pay grey market prices for a Silver SNoopy Speedy and have money left over.

You can buy it at MSRP at your AD, unlike Rolex sports watches
