Omega Seamaster 300 green being discontinued?

Hi All, I purchased my OSM Green Dial on April.6th at the OB at the Bellagio in Vegas and was told that in fact that morning the boutique received verification from Omega that in fact this watch has been discontinued. I talked to a couple other ADs in Vegas and they had not heard anything as such. I then reached back out to the OB and was told that they get information from Omega directly and that the ADs are not kept in the same loop of information. Has anyone else actually talked to a boutique to confirm this?

The guy I deal with at my OB was the one who told me the same thing. I actually wasn’t even in the market for a green SMP. I was interested in the white one. He showed me the white SMP and brought a green out to show me and told me about the possibility of it being discontinued. I feel in love with it and told him I’d take it but it was already sold. Lucky for me I guess as the guy who was going to buy it backed out and ended up getting a white one. So my OB called and said it’s mine if I want it. If not, no big deal as there was a fair sized list for it. Needless to say, I picked it up. The reason I was told it might be discontinued is that the matching of the bezel and dial of the green ceramic was harder to do. I personally have no idea but I doubt my OB would try a sales tactic on me for the green SMP as they have a list for them anyways.

Even if this isn’t true it’s likely the green will be a fairly short run if omega follow their previous update schedule-

2024?

Man, how do we get to a second page of thread and no photo of the watch in question?

Call me out if I'm wrong but are we talking about this?

Same. A couple OBs told me it’s possible as the CK859 was discontinued after only 6 months but who knows. Regardless, I really like the watch on the green strap.
CK 859 was not even on the mainstream rel

I would hope the PO gets an update first. I'm not sure what they'd change on the SMP now to justify a price increase aside from a lumed bezel...

A new movement with increased pr reserve to keep up with the competition

The US site says to contact an OB about this watch. This past weekend a few days ago, it said 'Not Available' so that's a change.

Truthfully, these talks of imminent or current discontinuation and "long" lists just sound like sales tactics to sell an item that maybe isn't moving like the others. Will green be discontinued in the future? Sure. Will green be discontinued before the other colors? Yeah, very likely but I think that's a little way off. This isn't me being hopeful that I can wait and get one. I got mine. It wouldn't bother me if it was being discontinued shortly and ended up only being available for around a year all said and done.

Mine on a US 1350 bracelet:

Why would Omega stop production of their most popular Seamaster 300 and forgo all that profit.

Just talked to a rep at the OB in San Francisco and they said the Green SMP is incredibly popular. They get 1 to 2 a month and they sell out the day they arrive. He said if I put a deposit down, it would be no more than a two month wait (if that). Made no mention of it being discontinued nor was there any pressure to buy one, as others have stated above: I asked about the stock of both the Blue and Green and he said could take home the blue w/bracelet and/or strap today if I wanted.

I said it earlier in this thread- just seems like a sales tactic.

Perhaps, but in terms of the movement timeline, I would think that the 8900 series are due for an update before the 8800 models first, right?

It wouldn’t surprise me to see a sword hands vintage inspired reissue with a 39 or 40mm case, but more incremental updates to the 300m. Perhaps a further expansion of the 007 60th design code?

. . . they said the Green SMP is incredibly popular. They get 1 to 2 a month and they sell out the day they arrive . . .

That's what the AD I bought mine from said also. I was able to get one without a deposit but there several people in front of me and it took some time.

. . . nor was there any pressure to buy one, as others have stated . . .

That was my experience also, albeit at an AD several months ago.

I said it earlier in this thread- just seems like a sales tactic.

Totally agree.

Playing devils advocate, perhaps the Green Seamaster is too popular and is stealing sales away from the other colours. Just my small input.

I doubt that would be a problem even if true. The popularity of the green SMP would get people in the door and potentially have them walk out with another SMP when they cant get the green one (Rolex AD strategy basically).

Just read that a few more people on reddit and Facebook have been told by OB that this watch is getting discontinued, strange.

Apparently there are qc issues making the bezel, something to do with the layered ceramic

Looks like it is currently available to add-to-basket on Omega’s site right now?
