Omega Seamaster 300 green being discontinued?

So I stopped by my local OB to have a link taken out of my Speedy and to ask about my spot on the 321 Ed White. I was looking at a white Seamaster 300 and the guy I deal with all the time at the OB told me I might want to think about the green Seamaster if I liked it as it is being discontinued. Well I like green watches as I love my Hulk so he showed me one that was sold but I could just see the color of green etc. I fell in love with it especially on the green rubber strap. He said he could most likely get me one in a few days or a little longer. My question though is has anyone heard of the green SMP being discontinued? Not really the best time for me to be buying another watch but if it’s being discontinued, then I definitely will make the funds available.

Doesn’t make sense to discontinue it but I stopped trying to make sense out of watch company decisions. Could always be a pressure sales tactic but if you already wanted to buy it I don’t see why they would do it.

I agree. Weird part is I wasn’t really looking at the green. Was looking more at the white as I don’t have a white dial watch. That’s when he mentioned the green. He said it was being discontinued due to the higher cost of making the green ceramic. Maybe something will come up at W&W.

Green is the same making process as the rest of the colors available. I highly doubt is due to the higher cost of making the color.

It just barely got introduced last year and is not a limited/numbered edition. I highly doubt it would be discontinued before the No Time to Die Seamaster. After you realize that you were fed bad info, never go back to that OB again.

actually, I’ve heard the same story now from several A.D.‘s as well as a boutique - that the process for the green is different and more time-consuming. That being said, I can’t imagine they would discontinue an off the charts popular watch like the green so soon -it just doesn’t make any sense.

Seems unlikely. If it was really more expensive to produce they could just raise the price for that color only.

I called my AD just to talk and mentioned this. He said he'd heard nothing and would be surprised if this were the case.

Seem like a cheap sales tactic

im kind of thinking this too. I called a few OBs today none have heard this. A couple did mention that the green ceramic was harder/more time consuming to make.

Same. A couple OBs told me it’s possible as the CK859 was discontinued after only 6 months but who knows. Regardless, I really like the watch on the green strap.

Technically the CK859 is not discontinued just "currently out of production" in Omega's words...

Don't mean to revive a slightly old thread but was searching OF to check up on the murky fate of the CK859 - if this is true then my hopes have been revived! First I hear it's numbered, then discontinued, then possibly up again? Can you elaborate on "currently out of production?" Thanks!

I can't really as omega were very unspecific with regards to their definitions of the terms. But in an email reply to an enquiry I sent them as an owner I was told that they were NOT discontinued but were out of production. What that means is an educated guess but I would suggest that the fact that a) they were numbered but specifically NOT limited and b) specifically told to be out of production rather than discontinued leads most people to deduce that they're reserving the right to produce another batch in the future.

But that's a guess as they haven't (to my knowledge) elaborated beyond that. Also, they might decide not to...

Hi All, I purchased my OSM Green Dial on April.6th at the OB at the Bellagio in Vegas and was told that in fact that morning the boutique received verification from Omega that in fact this watch has been discontinued. I talked to a couple other ADs in Vegas and they had not heard anything as such. I then reached back out to the OB and was told that they get information from Omega directly and that the ADs are not kept in the same loop of information. Has anyone else actually talked to a boutique to confirm this?

Seems awfully concidental and I'm very curious abort this loop your OB me rooms. So Omega would just keep letting ADs order a discontinued watch? Makes sense.

Not sure but your welcome to call the boutique in the Bellagio Hotel and confirm this. I would love to hear what they tell you? I do know that the boutiques are the actual representatives for Omega the ADs are just retail shops that are authorized to sell Omega watches.

I think if I express interest in a watch, an OB (or an AD) might tell me I need to act quickly because it's being discontinued. Especially a watch that likely has not been made in the same numbers as others in the catalog and is a novelty color. I think the loop the OB mentions is complete BS. The information is available for all.
