Hello All,

I recently bought a beautiful SMP for 1600£ in really good conditions (no box & no papers)
I was expecting the watch to perform really well but it is loosing roughly 5 sec a day, the person who sold it to me said it was running at -1.
I then enquired about the timegrapher test and the guy came back to me saying that the watch was tested by the watchmaker and that it was losing -1s/d, amplitude at 209 and beat error at 0.2, this has the original 1120 movement.

So my questions are, do you think the watch needs a service looking at the timegrapher readings above, it is worth to spend 200-250£ to service the watch by an independent watchmaker or would it be best to send this to an omega centre and spend the extra money for the service considering the 1600£ spent to buy the watch?

I know that the timegrapher reading on its own cannot determine what the issue is with the watch but would like to have a rough idea what would be best, maybe keep the watch and send it for a service down the line, or send the watch back hoping to find a better movement condition somewhere around?

Thanks in advance.
A

Hello @sirtaifun, is it worth to send for a service considering what I have paid for it? I will send an email to the watchguy and enquire.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi,

I`m not an expert at this modern Omega my hunting area are vintage watches mostly from the 60/70s so I`m not the right one to answer your question.
But if you like the watch enough you will spend around 250EUR for service at a free watchmaker.

I think the service is worth it. I actually think you got it for a decent price.

Thanks for your reply, yes it seems to be a good price, they go over 2000£ normally. Will do a service soon.
