·Hi OF
I'm continuing my effort to consolidate my collection. Up for sale is an Omega Seamaster 2846 with one of my favorite combinations, i.e. stainless steel case and gold-toned hands and markers. I love the respective thread here on OF. However, since service costs are high, where I live, I have to prioritize, and this one did not make the cut.
Specifications and condition:
Model: Omega Seamster ref. 2846
Movement: Calibre 501, a full automatic movement. The serial number dates the watch to approx. 1956. The movement looks tired and there is clear signs of rotor rub. From the the few times I’ve worn it, I would say it runs approx. 1-2 minutes off per day. Hence, it needs a service before regular wear.
Case: Stainless steel. It's an honest case with signs of age such as dings and scratches here and there. It’s definitely not sharp as a knife, but neither is it over-polished. The original facets on the lugs are still clearly visible and hence I think it’s a presentable piece. The macro shots reveal a dent on the inner edge of the lower right lug, but it's hardly visible with naked eye, especially when a strap is put on, which is normally the case 😀
Dial: White dial with some spotting that are visible with the naked eye but are not really distracting. Hands and markers are gold plated with some oxidation here and there. It's a dial without lume (i.e. no radium), which is a plus in my book.
Crown: Signed clover leaf crown, but a modern production, not the period correct variant with the flat feet Omega logo.
Crystal: Generic, with some scratches. Some "genius" tried to edge the Omega logo onto the glass visible on my wrist shot as the sunlight casts a shade onto the dial.
Measurements: 34mm in diameter without crown, 42mm lug to lug, lug width 18mm
Accessories: I'm including a used brown leather strap (not the one pictured, but very similar in style).
Price: I'm asking €600 (or the equivalent amount in CHF or USD).
Free delivery within Switzerland, add €30-80 on top for insured international shipment depending on your location and service choice (Swiss Post or courier).
No returns unless grossly misrepresented.
Payment through Wise is preferred, or otherwise bank transfer. The watch and I are located in Switzerland.
