Dear all,

This is my very first Omega watch. I got it as a gift for graduating university so it has a lot of emotional value to me. Now the problem is as follows: In the beginning after purchase it ran beautifully. After a month I have had it laid down for about 8 to 9 days. Now I want to wear it but it doesn鈥檛 run. (Only the second hand runs) I tried handwinding or a little shake. Hour and minute hand run for a bit and then stop. Winding does not seem to work. Is there anyone that can tell me what I should do? All help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Try pulling out the crown and turning the hands all the way through the entire dial from 12 to 12. Do this a couple of times. Then give it a few manual winds, set the time and put it on your wrist.

If the hands don鈥檛 move at all when you鈥檙e turning the crown, it鈥檚 time for a service.

If the hands do move, and you鈥檙e able to set the time, check the time periodically. If it鈥檚 keeping good time, keep wearing it.

If the hands stop, note the time of day and try the above again. If the hands stop at the same time next time, again, it鈥檚 time for a service, as the hands seem to be getting caught on each other or something else.

With any luck, the watch just needed a little kickstart from you, maybe to smooth out a bit of oil. If you keep having issues, definitely get it looked at.

Are you winding the crown clockwise? Try winding at least 30 turns.

Wow, thank you so much for this advice. So far so good (since 7:53 until now 11:09 it is running smoothly again). I did not know this, I learn about my watch everyday ) What do you think the cause was? The kickstart / oil thing?

Vintage watches may have dried oil and work intermittently. A clean and oil may be in order.

Thanks a lot! Do you know the costs of doing so?

Between 拢200-500. You can pay less but I鈥檇 question the quality of work at most places charging less than that.
