    Hello there,

I am looking to buy this Seamaster 14770 SC-61 cal. 562 with an 18k gold case (38mm) and dial.

Owner claims all original parts and is asking EUR1750 for it.

I tried looking on eBay's sold section for similar items, but I would like this forum's input. This'll be my first vintage.

Would the asking price be a fair value? I am willing to pay a bit extra for an oversized case like this as it looks better on my wrist.

I need a better photo, but if the dial has been refinished (as I suspect) then I'd say it's market value is whatever the melt value of the gold is. It'd have little to no collector value.

It is not an oversize. Ref. 14770 is only 34,5 mm. case so the seller have added the crown to the size :)
    It is overpriced also IMHO

It’s a redial. The words Seamaster and Automatic are plainly wrong. Also, it’s not 38mm.

How can you tell, or why do you suspect, the dial is refinished? Or maybe I should ask for some better pictures.

I see. Well that got shot down faster than expected, but I'm glad. Thank you!

So 34.5mm case and a redial. I was saved from a bad deal. Thank you all!

One of my pet peeves is dealers selling mid-sized watches as the "jumbo". Unscrupulous :cautious:
It's accepted in the industry to advertise the case size without the crown.

Yeah I really don't like it when they do that, but I should've double checked. Something I will do from now on, so lesson learned, I suppose.
