Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd share my latest purchase. Given I already have a 166.010 I wasn't on the lookout for a 168.024, however, when I saw this particular example with onyx markers (rather than black paint) I just had to have it.

Overall I reckon the watch is in very good nick, the brushed side are quite visible and the dial doesn't seem to have any damage or spotting. the end links are marked 511 and the BoR bracelet is a 1036 (no12).

The serial number is in the 28mil range which I thought was quite late for onyx markers, but after speaking to another OF member, it seems mine could be from the Japanese market where some late onyx markers were found, which makes sense given I did purchase this from Japan.

Enjoy the pictures (the movement shot was pre service so mind the discolouration and gunk).

Never seen before such a clean 168.024 dial. Congratulations on this Seamaster Chronometer grade!
Used to own one in less desirable look (Already posted it here
https://omegaforums.net/threads/more-pics-seamaster-168-024-insights-please.140062/)

Definitely nothing can challenge the beauty of BOR on these stainless steel Omegas (at the beginning of my collecting trip I was reluctant to put these BORs on my watches!)

100% agree, the BoR on a 168.024/166.010/14710 really is timeless.

Congratulations, a very clean example. Japan is indeed a great hunting ground for these. Had some spare JPY and I went for these two (sorry for the poor picture). Unfortunately, I cannot stand watches with a date function, so will settle for the 165.010 and the 168.024 will make a friend happy.

That really is lovely and as others have said, the BoR bracelet is perfect.

are the markers rubber inserts and not onyx? My understanding is/was that only solid gold had onyx and SS had rubber? Not trying to challenge any comments or statements above...only trying to learn.

Hi @Bikerider, onyx markers were not exclusive to just solid gold watches, have a look at this thread and you'll find plenty of stainless steel seamasters and constellations with onyx hour markers.

Page three of that thread also has a discussion on whether Omega actually used rubber inserts, it seems this was a statement made by the youtuber the "omega enthusiast" with no real concrete evidence of rubber ever being used. Happy to be corrected.
