The Omega Seamaster 200 Poppy from 1970 is very hard to find. The reference 166.068 has two dial variants this one called “Poppy” which is less common than the yellow dial version referred to as the “Banana”. These watches were known to have been used by the French Military

Overall, this watch is in fantastic original condition, showing signs of age, but for a nearly 50 year old watch it looks excellent. Its one of the nicest examples of the Poppy I have seen in the last 10 years. Especially the condition of the dial and the lume.

The original acrylic bezel is in very nice condition, the orange really pops.

The mineral glass crystal was replaced with a correct original from Omega in 2015 and is in perfect condition. The large screw down crown was also replaced during last service with a correct new Omega crown. It functions correctly and has three positions; 1- winds, 2- sets time and 3- pulling out to third position advances date (for quick date setting).

The hands appear original and the lume has aged to a very pleasant yellow matching the dial. The lume in the hour hand has a crack at the tip but is stable. The 41mm case is nice and retains the original finish.

I had the watch serviced in 2015 by my watchmaker. The crystal, crown, mainspring and seals were replaced during service with correct Omega parts. As the service is now over 10 years old, there is no warranty and the watch is sold as-is. The watch has mostly been a safe queen since its last service.

The case back is engraved:
