I picked up this piece a number of months ago. I bought the watch and then decided to try to become an expert in tritium, reluming, and authenticity. So I did things the wrong way ‘round. Not uncommon for me. Wondering what your actual expert opinions may be on this one. Specifically, would you believe the lume to be original tritium? Also, what’s the deal with the condition of the bezel triangle? What’s going on all around it?

I’ve added some video of the fade after being hit with UV light. Happy to provide anything else that may be useful. Thanks!

The video shows the decrease of luminosity in the first 1-2 minutes typical of old tritium. Or a lume redone with just the secondary scintillant, i.e. zinc sulphide paste.

Looks original to me. No one is going to re lume in that mouldy green shade.
Re the bezel triangle, it’s simply age affecting the Bakelite

Looks original to me as well, just not in very good shape, probably due to previous water intrusion. I had an old Seamaster 300 where half the dial had a beautiful yellowish patina, but the other half looked like this. I could never get over it, so had the dial and hands replaced with service ones.

Thanks to each of you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I obviously purchased the piece thinking (hoping) that the dial was original tritium, so I’m trilled to hear that it’s looking good to you all, who have seen many more dials than I have.

I wish I could repay you in some way. Which one of you do I send the Edible Arrangement to? 😉
