I think this reference is a timeless design. The sharp elongated lugs give it character and make it very wearable amongst modern designs.

Your one in particular has more patina than I'd like, and also been shined up/polished, but overall it's a nice watch with a reliable movement.

The crown isn't correct for this model. However, you won't have to pay extra if you decide to find an original one, as the crown the watch has is a prized Connie crown from the 1960s. This is my Omega Seamaster 14701.

The condition is pretty bad but I guess that’s obvious.

It looks like the gold cap is worn through at the ends of the lugs. If so, that would be a deal breaker.

This question leads us down a road.
A road that reaches a fork, one to the left, one to the right.

The left fork assumes that you own the watch through an inheritance, or a gift.
In that case, having a watch that's lived a good life and shows the wear and scars of its history is of no real consequence.

The right fork however, leads us to the conclusion that you have recently purchased the watch.
In that case, my view is that, unless it was a bargain, it wasn't a wise buy for the reasons noted above.

Which fork in the road are we following?

In fact, the chainring is very difficult to handle when you have to give it the right amount of turns to get it going, which is a shame because I really like that type of chainring.
