    I had a member of another forum present to me an Omega Seamaster 120 Plongeur Deluxe as a trade. It’s a quartz, 37 mm but really cannot gauge the value. It’s looks to be in good shape and he has a good reputation.

    Photos are of the actual watch that were sent to me.

    Omega Catalogue
    - ST/DD/BA 396.0900 (196.0185) : Men's version with 1337 - 37mm

    eBay has one for $3000 USD but this seems really high for what the watch but maybe I am just wrong!

    Do I love it? No, but I like it enough to consider it; it’s different, great size and I could trade it but am concerned about future value versus the watch being traded (which has gone/going up).

    Any insight on this watch would be great.

    $3000 would be insanely optimistic...

    The watch presented to me is not the one on eBay.

    I am just trying to get a sense of what the watch shown in these pictures (the watch I would be trading for) and the model would be worth. The one on eBay isn’t as nice as this one.

    Is it solid gold? How could it be worth $3k?

    What actual sales comps have you found? What does the seller value it at, and how does he justify it?

    LOL..no gold to be found!

    Not many comps to find! He hasn’t mentioned value only asked if I was interested as I mentioned preferred liking smaller watches. He liked a watch I had for sale and wondered if I was interested in a trade. Having no idea of the value, I am not sure if I am trading up or down as values on these seem difficult to find.

    My watch is worth $1300 USD +

    Just looking for an idea on the value of a Omega Seamaster 120 Plongeau Deluxe.

    I did a quick search but there are'nt enough sales to know what this model is really worth. So it's coming down on personal preference. Is it worth $ 1300? Well. Let me see...

    +
    1) IMO attractive watch;
    2) Nice size;
    3) Uncommon.

    -
    Quartz (but that's personal).

    Would I pay $ 1300? No. But I can imagine someone would pay that amount... It's a interesting piece.

    I didn't buy a nice one these about a year ago at around €600, IMHO it was almost on the money, but no great deal.

    Since then I have seen a few listed with outright deranged asking prices of around €3K. I think some crazy fool had one listed at that price on EBay or CH24 and other crazy fools jumped on the bandwagon with their asking prices.

    As this is a watch with very low sales volume at the best of times what I think we are now seeing are all these unsold watches just sitting all over the place with their totally unrealistic asking prices. Try to find some sold data- there isn't much around as none are selling anymore!

    I think €600 is still where they really are as two or three years ago they were trading around €500 tops.

    I moved on the "project" that I had for three reasons:

    1 - It needed nearly £600 of work to get it up to standard.

    2 - After all the work, it still wouldn't have been as good as a good one.

    3 - I would have been in to it for much more than it was worth/I could have sold it for.

    I personally wouldn't want to be into a nice one for more than £750.

    Thanks for the insight everyone. I like the watch but I don’t love it.

    Last night asked him for a price and I just got an email saying $1500 USD (converted from Canadian).

    That would be a bit more $ than my watch (I would “ahead”) but, I think if I ever wanted out of it, I’d have a hard time.

    But that’s the other problem; if I am already trying to figure out how how to get out of it (unless it’s a screaming deal), it should be a no.

    IMO - it is a nice looking watch and appears to be in decent shape. Downside is a quartz movement. Personally, I looked at these in the past and would be a buyer at the 600$ range.

    I have the same interrogation about the price of these Mayol because I really like them. Problem is there aren't enough sales as said previously, I only came across 2 or 3 fools who were trying to sell them for 3000$. I've seen a very few that seems to have been sold in France for around 500-700 usd. It seems that the genta style isn't enough to overcome the quartz factor.

    However if someone here has one (especially the blue one) and is willing to sell feel free to shoot me a PM.
