I'd definitely have the bracelet and case refinished too if I was going to replace the dial, bezel and hands
That's not too bad when you see the price of a recent SM300...but I didn't realize the glass part could be extracted from the actual metal bezel. Did you see the part listed at Cousins?
No this was through STS - it's currently listed as available and in stock on the Omega Extranet... along with the dial, and hands. I'm not sure Cousins can still get stuff...
True, haven't checked their site for a while. BTW I was referring to the price of a bezel for a recent SM300 but it's a whole assembly.
No Cousins can't, so they would only sell if they already had one in stock. Bezel assembly is actually no longer available, but the glass is. I checked the price - holy mark-up batman! Cheers, Al
Looking at mine I'm not sure how the glass insert can be removed without damaging the actual bezel, well I supposed it can be broken into pieces...
It includes the bezel insert. Okay looking at the exchange rate, it's much better than I expected, so this would be a pretty typical keystone markup.
So how did that restoration project end up? Was flipping through Marco Richon's "Omega : A Journey Through Time" book today and took a picture of the SM120 Mayol Family...and then realized I hadn't worn mine for a while ;-) Family : - ST 796.0844 (596.0052) : Lady "Mini" version with 1380 - ? mm - ST/DD 396.0947 (196.0252) : "Midi" version with 1430 - 35.5mm (with crown ?) - ST/DD/BA 396.0900 (196.0185) : Men's version with 1337 - 37mm Mine (pardon the fingerprints on the glass)
Not to hijack too much, but I believe Omega cashed in on Jacques Mayol with some limited editions including at least a couple with the "dolphin" dials 1999 Auto - 5000 pieces 2002 Quartz - 1500 pieces. For some reason, most of these seem to be from Japanese sellers. (pictures from the www)
Yes there were many, many "Mayol" watches, reeditions, etc...the "real" ones are the "Plongeur de Luxe" though ;-) @tyrantlizardrex - ok, I was under the impression it was at STS waiting to be fixed up. You'd just gotten a quote from them over the phone? Might still be worth fixing if they can indeed replace the damaged bezel by a new one.
Nope. They have my flightmaster at the moment, which is a CAT4, and an expensive service... I tend to do one at a time. And I need to decide if I want to keep the Mayol. Not paying to service another watch that I don't intend to hang onto.
Decision made, I've just got too much cash tied up in other watches that I do want to keep, for this one to have money spent on it to, so it's up for sale: https://omegaforums.net/threads/1981-seamaster-120m-plongeur-de-luxe-jacques-mayol.41177/
I’ve been looking to identify this Omega. Agreed the bracelet is like AP Royal Oak. Anyone knows more about this Seamaster?
Unfortunately not. The bracelet isn’t like the calypsos I’ve seen. Would love to know the model number of the watch.
