Mad Dog
路Just wanted to pass this along to those that may be interested and/or affected...
I recently learned from a member (Rocky) of another watch forum a new way to wrap the Omega replica NASA Velcro strap that came with my Speedy Gonzales and presentation box set...and it works FABULOUSLY...except for the somewhat nagging strap "hangover" of about 3 - 4cm due to my smaller wrist.
Pic 1...the "hangover"...due to my smaller wrist...
So I started thinking a wee bit (at about 0230) regarding a method to easily (and temporarily) shorten the strap so that the "hangover" can be prevented. I had an epiphany (at about 0231) and just had to immediately give it the old college try. Basically, one initial fold is made (to Rocky's already FABULOUS method) at the metal loop end of the strap. This fold prevents the "hangover" from occurring by slightly shortening the strap. The fold stays in place on the wrist due to the stiffness of the nylon material (which is already doubled over and stitched) at the metal loop (see pic 3a) and due to the fact that the fold is pinned between the wrist and the two outer loops of the strap (see pic 4a).
THE BOTTOM LINE...
1. The Omega replica NASA Velcro strap is shortened by about 3 - 4cm to prevent the "hangover" for those individuals with smaller wrists (see pic 1 compared to pic 5).
2. On-the-wrist security is increased due to more of the Velcro hooks being utilized (see pic 1 compared to pic 5).
3. The strap is not being permanently altered...it is folded at a specific location (see pic 3 and pic 3a).
4. It's free! 馃憤
I will attempt to describe the strap shortening fold and the end result via the following pics...
