Double signed with both Ranchero and Seamaster. I've never seen this type of dial. Seamaster added on by Omega? A dealer? A redial? Comments/Opinions?? Seller's commentary: A very special example of a 1959 Omega Ranchero 2990-1 with double signed dial we believe, sold to the German market. The watch has an extra line of script above the Subdial designating that is is also a Seamaster, hence the waterproof of the case, making this Ranchero twice as hard to find than any other example, as they are very scarce watches to find to begin with! https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/bring-a-loupe-september-29-2018 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/1959-Vinta...197136?hash=item23aaf76c10:g:qigAAOSwFnxbp9DuPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
The lume looks ok to me... if anything I’ve learned not to rule anything out on these 2990, Omega or even a retailer could’ve easily restamped these in a bid to move inventory. But the Seamaster printing on both of these looks consistent.
The colour on the second one looks OK but it’s just too consistent for me. I would expect to see some variation
Yes. That is what I’d expect to see. If you look closely there is a bit of inconsistency of colour and the edges of the lume isn’t quite so sharp as on the the other two. You can see it on the 9 o’clock marker.
Anything is possible but why would the watch carry different designations? To my untrained and ageing eye, the Seamaster text appears to have been applied at a different time and in different (font or) paint than the Ranchero text
There are some unsolved mysteries out there. https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-oddity-double-signed-constellation-seamaster.61304/
You guys are missing the point, it WAS added later to try to sell the watch but by whom we don’t know. The blueish tint of the “Seamaster” ink reminds me of the added T’s on the first tritium 165024-63/64
A visionvintage listing I see 1 day to go and the price has shot up 50%, to almost £7,000, $9,000 USD Seems 2 relatively new ebayers are in a bidding war. Imagine that
Seems to have finished early. Did the seller get an offer, or did he realise that he'd got carried away with his shill bidding?
Aaaaaah…the banned One…yet again Seem to remember,…even back then… he was a bit of a ‘James Hunt’ when it came to multiple, online identities…
My first thought is a question: is the case the same as a "standard" Rachero? Short run of Rancheros in cases with better waterproofing, hence the addition of the Seamaster?
Some Rancheros were rebranded as Seamasters and sold to the Swedish market. Those usually have only the Seamaster script, however...
I have one of these as well. Lights up like a Christmas tree under the Geiger and it’s turning brown around the edges of the sub-dial.
The Omega Ranchero is a lovely, lovely watch. This is mine: I don't know if relume it or not. It's not easy for me to understand real quotations of these watches. what do you think guys? Thank you for all your help. (yes, no "Seamaster Ranchero" here).
