Hi to all Im new to this forum so not sure if this is were to post, I have inherited a Omega Railmaster from my grandfather and i have some questions, had the watch cleaned and serviced, the person running the shop said it was a Caliber 284 and With ref number 2914-2 sc. Have tried to find out what year it was made and aprox value, but seems to be few for sale. I know it was purchased by my grandfather in the late 50s or early 60s, could not find the receipt. Has been used for many years and it runs very well.
That’s quite a beauty you have there! Based on the serial number, it seems like this is one of the original Railmasters! Others more expert than I can better inform you, but Omega has just re-issued this model on its 60th Anniversary. I bought one myself, in fact! The odds of ever having an original are so slim that this is the closest I’ll ever likely get! If yours is the real thing, it’s quite valuable!
I’d rather suggest you to wear it and pass on to next generation as a valuable family heirloom... it’s a great watch.
Your buyer came here to ask the same questions https://omegaforums.net/threads/help-with-a-vintage-omega-railmaster.64629/ Does it have the internal magnetic cover and spring? It’s missing two screws to hold the movement in the case, if the picture was taken after service you might want to ask about them.
Come on, I don’t think OP tried to avoid the rules on purpose, I’m sure he’d have received offers even without explicitly saying it.
