Omega promotional tray. Can somebody help date it?

Pictured is an Omega promotional tray. I assume it was to function as an ashtray, but I encourage disagreement. It does seem a bit large for an ashtray.

The thing is hefty and I would guess made of solid brushed aluminum, along with the logo. The inner red part is ceramic. Beneath it is red felt.

The tray is still in its wooden storage box with molded cushion to keep it in place.

If anyone had any insights on this tray, please let me know. I placed a pocket watch for size.

judging by the logo and font on the back it wont be too old, post 2000 maybe.

I doubt that it was an ashtray (no notches for cigs/cigars, aluminum insignia that might be vulnerable to discoloring with heat, etc.).

I would also assume that it was produced over the past ~20 years.

Perhaps it's a coaster for a humongous beer stein? 😜 Perhaps it's a curio of some sort, a freebie given away with an LE?

Probably a logo that you stand up in a front display window, and since it shows the Omega logo on the back side a customer would see that when inside the shop. Too nice for an ashtray, and since it's post 2000 smoking in stores was pretty well verboten by then. And any sort of felt-type material would not stand up to any sort of tobacco, so ixnay on an ashtray.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with the date of your example. Here is an image of a much older Omega item from my collection which I believe is definitely an ashtray.

Definitely a **cough** ashtray.

The odd thing about it being ornamental (as opposed to an ashtray) is that it is designed to sit flat on its back. Tough to have a strong opinion one way or the other, but it is nice!

Just a bit of additional information, the circumference is lightly stamped A CENTURY OF RESEARCH ON THE WRIST. I assume that dates it to 1948. I have some similar items I will post later.

It's not meant to be one of those things you rest your watch on at night, is it?

A fairly recent plastic tray/dish I acquired. There was a period about 20 years ago when there were dozens of these available online. It was produced by an advertising company in Miami.

I think it’s a center insert for a watch sales/display. I have a display and this is the insert

Here are some door handles in the same style as OP`s tray.

Nothing would say "I'm a complete freakin' Omega nut" more than having one of these on your front door. 😁
