If the current inflation trend continues it's hard to see how the prices can remain the same in the US. Inflation could also hurt demand so who knows...

I heard that Omega boutiques have been instructed by head office to cut all prices by 50% for Black Friday. And a further 50% off on any stock not sold by Monday.

Really? So you are suggesting all Omega watches will be half price on Black Friday?

Ah! I see what you did there. I didn't want to just say that was total nonsense. Caught me, hook, line and sinker.

Of course Omega prices will rise. It happens pretty much every year. Labor gets more expensive, materials get more expensive, overhead costs increase, etc.

A brand new Speedmaster used to cost about $150. These days a brand new one costs close to $6,000. 'Predicting' prices will go up takes the same amount of skill as predicting the water in an ocean will be wet. 😉

Everything goes up in price over time. I remember walking through Rome with my wife 7 or 8 years ago and stopping at the Omega Boutique there. Looking at the Seamasters I commented "Holy crap, I'll NEVER pay $2000 for a watch!!!!" If only I could find one that cheap now. 😁

Yep. When we strolled through Rome 2 years ago my wife, looking absently at the SMP Diver on my wrist, and at the one in the window, remarked that she was pleased I'd got mine at 70% off...

(I may have confused 7 with 70% when first bringing the watch into the house....)

In Canada that SMP Diver is now just under CAD 7100.00 on the steel, and when I playfully inquired about discounts at the AD I've spent far too much money with over the past 5 years, they asked why would they discount watches they can't keep in stock?

I have confused 70% and 7% when discussing my watch purchases with my wife many times. 😉

Having spent the past 2 months looking at buying, I’ve have found no interest from both ADs and a London OB in offering discounts on popular watches (SMP, PO, SM300 & Speedy). I know there’s another thread covering this, but interesting to see it actually happening.

This is ridiculous, I was offered 12% off at Athens Airport on the new Speedy a month ago and that was without even really asking! I know that an AD in Madrid is even offering 25% off!

I recently bought my SMP with a 15% discount. Really wasn’t a hard push either tbh.

OBs are well known for not giving discounts, but they will offer deal sweeteners if asked nicely... an extra strap, or a free first service.

ADs - the availability of a discount will come down to their margin, and a need to move stock - on popular/new models in high traffic stores, they may not feel a need to offer a discount when the next guy would willingly pay full price.

They always have, and I'd take a punt that they always will.

In 2002 a 1861 Speedmaster Professional on a bracelet was a little over £1300 in the UK at retail... by the time they discontinued it (and put it in a huge box!), it was well over £3000.

Omega used to run country specific prices (at least back when I used to live there).

I remember the Speedmaster having a lower MSRP in Switzerland where I lived at the time than Italy. In Italy however they were giving high discounts whereas in Switzerland they weren’t.

Discounts are often built into MSRPs, so a % discount isn’t always a good reference point.
