路Hi All,
I have here for sale a first generation Ploprof 600 with the cal 1002 movement. This piece is completely original save for a new crystal and seals. The original crystal and seals can be included with the sale.
The watch came to me in a strange semi restored condition. It had a different bezel fitted, new hands and dial, red button and crown. It just looked all wrong and I couldn't decide what to do with it. The choice was to completely restore it, case included or refit all the parts that had been delivered with it in a bag. As this is a series 1 the dial has crazy bubbling and topography. All the lume was missing from the original hands too. It had allegedly been serviced too but was running -90sec per day with a beat error of 3
After consulting a few friends I decided to go with completely original. Now, this watch has character, if you're afraid of that - read no further... As these were twice the price of a Rolex Submariner when new they weren't exactly bought by amateur divers. I can't prove it but I think this one belonged to a superstitious cove. It has some quite odd light engravings marked into one flank and the case back. There's a little one on the crown too. Stick figures but very strange ones actually. There is also a number 8 at, well, 8 o'clock. Like I said, its got character!
I set about stabilising the dial using techniques I've learned at a State Library Conservation department and carefully relumed the old hands making sure to induce cracking for authenticity so to speak. These were then stabilised as well. I didn't want super bright super uniform lume, that would look wrong against the old dial.
Then I serviced the movement (I'm a watchmaking student) and replaced the mainspring and set lever. As you can see it is running very well now.
Using new seals I put everything back together using all the old parts except for a new crystal. The result is a Ploprof that works perfectly, runs perfectly yet oozes character and originality. 馃榾 It even passed a 100m pressure test no problem so you can dive with it if you want. (its not easy finding machines that will test beyond 100m pressure or I would have tried the full 600m)
So, I'm asking $4750USD net including international courier for this piece of history including one orange ISOfrane and one genuine blue Omega ISOfrane still in the packet with new Omega buckle.
The pics!!!...
