Hi everyone,
Im considering Omega pie pan constellation dog leg from the 1968. From the research in this forum Im guessing that this is the reference 168.005 with cal 564 but the crown seem to be from a different reference. Im also questioning if the watch have been polished. The guy said that this watch was bought from japan 30 years ago by his uncle and have been service at the beginning of the year. Would greatly appreciate if you guys can help me grade the condition of the movement and any another additional information about the watch.

The case alone is a reason to pass on this one IMO. It's VERY polished. An unpolished dog leg case looks like this:

While it's rare to find a dog leg case in completely unpolished condition, there are many examples for sale in far better condition than the one that you're considering.

Does the dial look off to anyone else? It's so white and the minute markers aren't consistent.

It's a slow market right now and it depends upon the reference, case material, etc. and whether the seller is a private individual or a dealer, but I would say that $1,500-$1,750 for a stainless steel dog leg 168.005 in good original condition would not be unreasonable.

I didn't even get that far after looking at the case, but yes, the dial is suspect. Wrong crown too.

The bezel looks cracked near the 6 o’clock. That’s not good news. Oh and it’s a redial.

Some tells are the minute marks being outside of the piepan and the spacing of the ffs in officially, there are others too
