    Hello all,
Just bought my first modern omega, which i will post tonight when i get it in. (great white SM GMT)

    Question,
What are omega nato straps worth ? Where is the easiest place to find them.
there are two local to me on the grey market, $400, for the pair. New in packaging.
    one green and one grey.

Are they worth $200 CAD each ?

    Thanks
    J

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I have accumulated half a dozen Omega NATOS, all from eBay, most in used condition. I paid between £60-£90 per piece. They retail at £120.

New natos you can buy directly through Omega website, last time when I checked is was $160/piece, so don't see a reason why to pay $400 for a pair.
There are more expensive nato models (Biosteel) but straps on your photo are $160 afaik.
I have two Omega natos - very good quality but I think no nato strap is worth $160 no matter who has produced them. This is kind o fthe item you buy to spoil yourself.

I've seen them sell for ~50-60% off used depending on the color. They are great straps - extremely high quality.

I do not like Omega "NATO" becaus of what I consider bizarre disregard for the G10 standard. The loops are where they are for a reason, people!

My favorite "NATO" is the Maratac. But any that is closer to the actual G10 standard is better than the Omega, in my opinion.

Turns out a few boutiques in Toronto can get them in easily. Not sure what colour yet, any thoughts for a great white GMT? IMG_7003.PNG

For Great White, I'd pair with either 1 of these below for summer fun.

One has colors of your country. The other...um, your neighbors to the south? Or the motherland across the pond? Lol, color associations aside, I think they enhance the white, red, and black colors found on the dial, hands, and bezel of your magnificent Great White.

As a side note: can you try on one at your boutique before committing to buy? Don't mean to hijack this thread, but there's been past debates on Omega Forum about the comfort of Omega's NATO design. While everyone is in agreement at how great the strap material feels, the controversy is in that exposed metal bit that digs against one's wrist.

In the pictures below, you can see how that metal part in the interior of the strap is exposed. Whereas most NATO straps will embed that side of the minder within the textile loop, so that your wrist only comes in contact with the soft strap material.

That exposed metal was so uncomfortable for me that I ended up cutting off that portion of the strap entirely. I didn't mind breaking out the sewing kit, but you'll have to decide whether:
    a) You find this uncomfortable, and to be a dealbreaker that preclude you buying the Omega OEM NATO
    b) You find this uncomfortable, but don't doing some work with a sewing kit to cut that piece off and stitch it back together.
    c) This design flaw doesn't bother you at all :)

Straps aside, that is a lovely Great White .
To answer your question, no the Omega NATOs are definitely not 'worth' it, but as vitriol said, you buy one to spoil yourself. Mine is comfortable, well made and it looks good having a genuine strap for a watch that you love.

I have the same complaint with the Omega nato. I ended up asking Phenome Nato to custom make some that has the under strap part shorter to match the G10 standard. This moves the side keeper up on the wrist a bit to match the G10. Then I kept the overall length at 33cm (the G10 is 29cm I believe) as I prefer extra strap as I dive with them and it tucks back better as well. I also had them adjust the holes to properly shift them for my wrist size. I’m very pleased as I ended up with the Omega style material and hardware etc with better fit and dimensions. I found the Omega length too short for my wrist which caused awkward tucking of the tail end of the strap. My only final complaint is they only do stitching and no heat welding.

Ok, I am in Europe and did not know about Canada. Just checked the pricing of the straps from your OP - those are $160 for sure.
Have you heard about 'MooseStrapCo'? they are based in Canada and many of their designs have a vibe of the Omega strap, but the cost is 1/5.
I have had their $25 strap and that were monies well spent.

Omega NATOs are great but they’re so damn expensive. I was tempted to buy one but I ended up going with a Phenomenato strap at about 1/4 of the price. I couldn’t justify spending $200 on an expensive piece of fabric ::bleh::

Any links to what constitutes a 'real' NATO please? I've always had an issue with the strap being too short making it a bit difficult to fold back over (7.5" wrist), and it just looks weird with the strap end poking up like an antenna if it's not folded back. I didn't realise there was a (G10) standard, but of course anything milspec should be well defined.
