Omega model assistance... What do I need to look for

After discussion with my 15 year old daughter who really appreciates mechanical watches, wants one of her own.
So I thought I would start taking a look at options.
She likes the size of my Speedmaster 3523.30 at 39mm but that is as large as she would like.
She wants to be able to see the movement. I showed her the Moonwatch sandwich online and she liked it.
So what models are available that fulfills the dial < 39mm and has access to view the movement.
Thanks,

Allan

Start her off gently with a Seiko 5. Lots of choice, plenty with display casebacks and very affordable. No need to chuck her in at the horological deep end yet 馃槈

Perhaps something like this SNK613K1

Yup this has Seiko 5 written all over it.

The SNK series is 38mm and normally well under 100 with a display back.

Here, have her go crazy browsing the various Seiko 5 options (this is for <=39mm watches under $100, with a replaceable band -- not like the proprietary one shown above). The two of you can twiddle with the search parameters. I don't know how many of these have display casebacks, but I think most do.
I was going to post that link also... nasty little rabbit hole to loose an hour or 2 on.

That is very cool. I may just let her go and see what she comes up with.

Thank you.

Display back
Chrono
<39mm

drawing a blank if you want all 3 at any price. Speedy date or racing. But no display back.

Ladies Speedmaster will fit the chrono wish and comes in at 38mm. I think this is as close to yours as you can get in the women's line:

Does not appear to be available with a display back though. There are Ladymatics with display backs but no chronographs.

Picky, picky, picky. 馃槻馃槈

Display-back chronograph means mechanical, and mechanical chronographs are expensive.

If she can live with two dials, the cheapest decent one is probably the Sea Gull 1963 reissue (38mm, ~$300, which is dirt-cheap for a mechanical chronograph). It's Chinese, but it's supposedly OK, as long as you don't get a clone or fake. 馃槑 In the US, a good place to get them is Long Island Watch.

If she can live without a display back, you have more choices with quartz, but those also tend to be bigger (say, 40mm and up). You have the Casio EF-503 and EF-527 series (~41mm?), as well as the Junkers 6186-5 (40mm?) and others (see the suggestions on that page).

I'm tempted to suggest a speedy reduced (39mm), or one of the Valjoux-based speedies (also 39mm), but those don't have a display back, and anything you can find (all used) will likely need an expensive servicing. If you're going to spend that kind of money, you might as well also look at the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope (40mm), but that also has a solid caseback.

That's great information. Yes picky indeed. Let's just say she's an artist. Just hope she doesn't cut off her ear.
