Hello All,
Hope you are well.

I am suspicious of this watch, though I do like it's appearance. The interior appears to be very similar to other models that are from the same era, but there are significant variations at other areas of the watch over all. The serial number on the casing does not match the date proposed by the seller, when compared to online resources. The price feels too good to be true.

I suspect that this is Frankenstein. ie.A highly repaired watch?
Is this a genuine Omega? Is it worth buying?

Any further advice would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Nice Pocket watch. Known as the Ukrainian model. Omega wrists watches with running second at 9 o'clock, should be avoided. Always.

.............Why do people avoid them?

Because they're "Frankens" and except for the movement, were never anywhere an Omega factory.
Pocket watches had gold cases melted and lots of movements are sitting around. Basic pocket watches don't attract the same prices as a wrist watch, more movements to use.

Add a new case, an old movement, give it a dash of dial paint, a little touch of "historical" bullshit and sell to the uninitiated.

Money in the Bank of Kiev.

PS: This one just had modern lugs soldered to the original case.

Apologies... Just to clarify. You're saying it is a genuine Omega pocket watch in every other way, but it was simply defaced by having lugs attached to make it a wrist watch?
Thank you for your time. (pun intended)

No, it used to be a pocket watch with seconds at six. They took the dial an reprinted, rotating 90 degrees. The added lugs to use with a strap. Garbage.
