I prob bought 40 winders trying to find one that will hold full length 560-751 mainsprings , fit the arbor slot and fit the barrel. So far nothing works. Any idea of what works? At this point I’ve just been replacing them but no and then they don’t go in right and a new ones wasted unless I can wind it in.

Omega doesn’t offer a specific winder for this series of calibers (they do for many others, but not this one). I service these all the time (have 5 in the shop right now) and I always replace the spring with a new one, as is standard practice.

The clearance between the outside diameter of the spring as wound in the shipping ring, to the inside diameter of the barrel drum is not large, so you really have to be careful to center the spring before you press it in.

You need to press the spring flush to the top of the shipping ring above the barrel drum, then move it back and forth to find the center before pressing it in. I also press the bridle portion of the spring in first, and only very rarely have I had one that doesn’t go in properly.

Cheers, Al
