hi, have come across this watch on ebay listed as a calatrava however i can’t find anything like it. really like the Bauhaus/minimal design. the closest thing i’ve found to it was a Stowa from the 40s. any help would be appreciated thanks

I would need more detail in the picture to give a real opinion, but would lean toward original.

I don't see any obvious issues, but clearly it's not a Calatrava. 🙄

ok nice thanks, can’t really get any more detail-just pics from ebay listing-anything in particular to look out for? the thing that concerned me was the lack of ‘swiss made’ at the bottom, however the number indicates that it is from the early 40s. any ideas as to the model?

I would estimate late 30s, with a cal 26.5 movement. Quite early for a shock-protected movement. No particular model name, which was typical at the time.

Not terribly valuable, but a nice little watch and good quality.

Wether redial or original, that's a cool watch. I have an early 40s (?) re-dial sub seconds Omega with a Cal 265. Keeps immaculate time, actually. Though my dial is different than yours, it still has the similar even numerals (which I love), but they are applied in what I assume gold.

If it's a cal 265, I believe it would be late 40s or early 50s. Early 40s would still have been 30T2 probably. What is the serial?

A few hundred USD. I assume it's quite small.

I think you are absolutely right, now that I think about it. And I knew this, but forgot (if it was early or late). I don't have it in front of me right now, how do I check the serial? Is it on the movement?

Yes, on the movement.

yeah it’s 32.5mm

Sounds about right for a cal 26.5. Hopefully you have a sense of how that will look on your wrist.

It is actually a 26,5. I would tend to think the dial is original. But there may be an issue with the movement. The serial number of the movement dates it back to 1938, maybe 1939. It matches the serial number of the case. But the 26,5 T2, the first of the cal. 26.5 series to have shock protection, had only been issued in 1940. As a couple of year is not a big deal here, I would not take that into consideration if the balance bridge did not seem to have a different color of the rest of the movement. Maybe it is nothing important though...

On second glance, looks like the entire balance assembly has been replaced. Possibly with one from a cal. 26.5T3?

I suppose it would affect the value, maybe not too much.

That was my thought. But hard to be sure.
