It’s called the Grande, not the Grand Ploprof. It’s not a ploprof.

I thought it was a professional divers watch.

I call it the grand is in 1000. But I was calling the grand ploprof before so you’re right about that.

Hi

I have to laugh.... on multiple levels....

one the Grand Ploprof , that happens.... I personally refered to it as 1000 meter...

I used to work at Adobe many years ago.... I was trying to set up a meeting this one potential customer ( big cheese in the publishing industry) for about 6 months . I have called his office , sent letters .... tried just about everything... We are both based in NYC.....

Well I was in San Francisco for Macworld... ( yes I am dating myself). I saw him by an elevator ... I just came from the show floor so I was wearing a Adobe logo shirt... ( booth uniform ). He saw the shirt and turned away.. while I was approaching.... he stepped into the elevator and I noticed he was wearing a 1000m Omega .... As the doors closed I mentioned , let me know if you want to talk about your 1000 meter Omega diver.... .... Next thing you know he stopped the elevator doors with his hands and invited me in! The rest... well we are still talking 20 plus years later....

I also personally take offense ...

what @TsoloT said below
"It looks like the watch cases were often badly dented in undersea work as this was a real professional watch and bought for real commercial reasons not like the proplof which was more a poseurs Watch[sorry but although that’s a bit controversial it’s the truth]" If you are quoting someone opinion else then sight the source...

I know I can not say anything on what is a poseurs deep diver watch or not I am not or ever have been a saturation diver. I bought my 600m from a saturation diver ( worked on oil rigs etc ) who used it daily until he retired then kept it in his cars glove compartment for years until he sold it to me... Stupid me in the 90s i swapped out the dial and hands ( still have originals and put a new red bezel release button on.... ).

Also you posted a link to a site...

http://www.omegaseamaster1000.com/

it looks nice... do you know the author ? His name is not published just his email [email protected]

i know i can figure the server and get more info but why not disclose your name? I just find it odd...

I am the author and with respect I suggest you look at the information regarding the ploprofs sales in Italy following the overt display of the watch by Gianni Agnelli ..not sure which deep sea diving company he was employed by but the sudden surge in sales was not down to a massive new intake of deep sea divers in Rome Milan or Turin

The fact that I do not disclose my name is not ‘odd ‘it’s just that as a Former Adjunct Professor of International Law it’s conventional to reserve ones name for professional academic publications

And I am delighted you had to laugh on multiple levels were you perhaps in an elevator again ?

With good humour and respect

Just one further point one does not ‘SIGHT ‘ a source of an opinion ...it’s a forum not a dissertation

One might however ‘CITE’ a reference to maintain integrity and intellectual probity of an academic paper and to avoid accusations of plagiarism

I am still unsure however as to why you take ‘ OFFENSE ?’ [the noun] possibly you mean offence ....no one in Omega took offence when the Ploprof was not chosen by Comex for saturation diving due to its lack of HRV
And your phrase. ‘quoting someone’s opinion else [sic ]. ‘. is equally obscure

Kind regards

Ok, let’s spell it out, since you like to boast your academic clout while making basic logic mistakes: one person (or a thousand - that you don’t have sources for) buying it for fashion doesn’t stop it from also being purchased and used professionally.

I’m done. No point in repeating what you didn’t read the first time if you can’t follow basic logic reasoning.

The reason I remain anonymous is to avoid your first accusation

In respect of your second statement ,one does not preclude the other ....however that is not the point

I have very little detailed demographic analysis on the ploprof sales but on a global basis the number of ploprof sales massively exceeded the world wide number of professional divers by a huge margin even when in later years people were no longer using watches to time decompression limits or gas consumption etc etc

In any event this is nothing to do with the Seamaster 1000

Sorry to upset you but quite clearly many many thousands bought the ploprof when the world wide number of professional divers did not exceed 1500

Indeed even those within the so called saturation diver community did not buy the ploprof as it failed the Comex spec[they were the biggest saturation divers in the world at the time]

Which is why there are no ‘Comex omegas’ only ‘Comex Rolexes’

Interesting website, but riddled with grammatical and syntactical errors. I suggest you partner with a Former Adjunct Professor of English and get it sorted so it comes across as more professional (no pun intended). Nice imagery, however.
