I’ve been in the process of letting go my Rolex-watches and getting some unique Omega-watches. Don’t get me wrong: I still appreciate Rolex and will have one or two in my collection. I am sick of this Rolex shortage and the way it affects to everything: poor customer service, talking about the value and prices of the watches all the time etc. Too many black dialed Rolexes in the world allready.
For me to compere these two favourite brands of mine helps me to think what I really want, what actually sings to me.
I’ve had three versions of the Rolex Skydwellers, three versions of the Day Dates, two versions of the Datejusts—and I got bored to all of them. Nothing special, you can see those in the wild all the time. I think that the blue Skydweller was the most beautiful one IMO. But on the wrist after some time: too top heavy and uncomfortable to wear. And when you are wearing a certain Rolex, you are getting too much unwanted Rolex-attention... I started to think some alternatives.
Now finally I am coming to the point of this thread:
Omega Globemaster Annual calendar. I was about to buy the grey steel version 6 months ago, but decided to wait. A couple of days ago I tried the fg version, steel version and this steel&gold version that I just got. I fell in love rightaway. The colours of this watch are simply stunning. Sunburst grey with the pan pie dial is something you need to see yourself. Very hard to capture the beuty in photos. The 3D elements are so beautiful. Rosegold and grey are working so well together. And that Geneva observatory’s cupola.... I happen to love the months on the dial: there is a very poetic aura in this watch. Full of details, incredible movement and very comfortable to wear. Goes well with a suit or casual clothing. This is one of my favourite watches at the moment, living a strong honeymoon phase...

Wow it's lovely, I really like the look of that bezelled dial in gold against the dark grey dial.

It's gorgeous. But, is there a quick set for the month?

I ordered mine 2 days ago, I can’t wait to see it on my wrest. I’m a little worried, I have a big wrest and used to 44mm plus time pieces. Hopefully I won’t be disappointed by the size.
And I agree, the colors combination of this watch is so amazing. I couldn’t resist buying it after seeing few videos on youtube.

Didn't end up buying it but was in conversation with them regarding an Omega and found them to be very responsive and professional. Had the timing worked out would not have hesitated based on that experience, but YMMV of course.

That's a very elegant Globemaster. Not a model I've paid much attention to before but several recent threads here have changed that. Something about the case and dial with the more industrial fluted bezel, a combination of elegance and almost toolish purpose.

I was in the market for Breitling Navitimer B01 43 mm , but when i seen the Globemaster Annual Calender it just changed the whole idea, I just fell in love with it before even receiving it. I truely see it as a perfect men's watch. Rolex never got my attention, they are just ugly in my opinion. I'm sure they are really great watches " Quality, accuracy..etc" but their designs never got my attention, the only one I really liked was over $50k and I won't pay that much for a watch.
This Globemaster just got it all for me, Omega's quality and history, Beautiful design, perfect colors and it could be a dressy watch or every day casual watch.
