Omega Globemaster on FKM Rubber Strap: Yay or Nay?

So decided against the bracelet or any bracelets for the Omega Globemaster. But I wanted to see if I could dress down the Globemaster for more everyday wear, like going to the pool.

Thought about Sailcloth, vintage leather, Perlon, etc...but this FKM rubber waffle strap just felt so good and balanced the heaviness of the Globemaster. The thickness especially at the lugs. Yah or nah? Cheapens it? Other good option beside Alligator? Rubber strap on dress watch always a no-no?

Rubber on a dress watch always works for a summer casual pool vibe. Swap on a Sail Cloth or leather strap for a night out or more dressy occasion.

I would say, that if you like rubber, it's ok but I would go for something more subtle than the waffle. Like the Hirsch Pure and definitely in dark blue.

Got an Artem sail cloth with deployant clasp. Love it but it does have a leather back so not taking it to the pool, but gives it a nice casual look. Know there are other manufacturers, plenty of ways to change up the look.

I like the combo but wouldn't consider that configuration to be a dress watch. More sporty than dress.

For example, I wouldn't wear that combo with a suit. But I'd wear the Globemaster with a suit on an alligator or leather strap or the bracelet.

I think the rubber looks awful. I like the sail cloth shown. Hirsch has sme sports straps that would work as well.

Yup, took it off after wearing for a bit. Super comfortable, but didn't sit well. Ended up ordering an Omega 1380. I didn't like the Sailcloth look either.

Not a fan of the rubber, tbh. A sailcloth strap would be more appropriate.

Appreciate “dress” in quotes as I’m perpetually unclear of the criteria. I have some “dress” straps made of dress suit worsted fabric.

As I look at my watches I’m not sure if I own a true dress watch. The closest I might come are my max bill, grand seiko, or reverso, but each may be too “complicated” to be a dress watch.

"Yah!" from me, but the Globemaster is such a beautiful watch I would like it no matter the strap.

Anyways I like the contrast the strap are on the watch head. The Hirch that @grokas mentiones is a bit more subtle.

This looks great. I'm personally not a fan of the Globemaster, but you've made it look good in my eyes.

It’s a perennial topic, but always worth mentioning: I don’t know that “dress watch” is much of a thing nowadays. Not saying it doesn’t exist—a classic Calatrava on a black leather strap is undeniably dressy. But you’ll probably find people who wear them with jeans and t shirts, just as you’ll find people wearing tailored suits with Submariners and Speedmasters. 99% of observers wouldn’t even think to notice such a detail, and 99% of those who do notice probably wouldn’t care.

I’m not a fan of mesh in general, but if you like it that’s all that matters. I personally think a tapered oyster bracelet would look better and would be an all around solution: works with any attire.

Not quite a fan of the shark mesh, I prefer the Staib version. But kudos for dropping that rubber strap and dressing the Globie with matching metal.

I think the Globemaster is a watch that can be heavily affected by the strap/bracelet chosen for it. I personally don't really go for either the rubber or beads of rice on it, but that's just me. I think the straps that come with it compliment the main watch head very well.

completely agree, the fact that the watch is mostly brushed finished makes it difficult to pair with any other bracelet. I have mine on a brown croc strap and really makes the white dial 'pop'
