View attachment 950896 Hello

It has been awhile since I have contributed anything to these forums. Never quite sure which lane I am supposed to be in. Mostly I am wishing to share with the Omega Forums database. And gain knowledge and advice on collecting Omegas. I think the question of whether a watch is original is always my main focus, so I will post with the intent of expanding my knowledge on what constitutes a good acquisition, what are the most collectible, and how I can improve my pursuit.

This stainless Geneve was from a seller in Tokyo. I had seen this shape before, but don't recall seeing a dial this color. It was so appealing to me I immediately purchased it. When I received it I felt that it was even nicer than it had been presented.

It arrived with the original Beads of Rice bracelet. However, it was a couple of links too short for my 8.5 inch wrist. I ordered a replica from England, with the intent of adding a couple of links to the original so that I could wear it. As it turned out, it was more practical to take a link from the original and add it to the replica. It fit the original endpeices perfectly. I would eventually like to find some genuine links and add them to the original bracelet. Any assistance or leads would be appreciated.

My questions are: Does this watch appear to be original? The second question concerning collectibility is somewhat moot, as I find the watch very appealing. View attachment 950903 View attachment 950904 View attachment 950905 View attachment 950906 View attachment 950907

Whenever I see a fresh star burst dial on a fifty year old watch, I'm immediately suspicious, but based on those photo's I can't comment one way or the other.

The hands however, are distinctly unusual for that reference.

On the official Omega vintage watches site, this ref. does have a starburst dial, though it doesn't specifically list this color. The hands are definitely wrong. Where might I look for the right hands? Thanx

Your watch is mostly fine. The watch came with a few different dial variations, and those dials used different hands. The "blue/grey" dial that you have came with the hands your watch has on it now, and the only difference I see if the sweep seconds hand - the one listed for this case is polished steel instead of white, but I think that would be hard to see against the dial, so the white actually works better.

Good information. I did not realize that different hands may be optioned, according to dial. Thank you

Just as a point of reference these "leaf" style hands are commonly found on Geneves with painted Breguet figures from the same period.
