Omega Geneve Jumbo 2748-3 question

So my beloved jumbo returned from service and some lug repair. Upon close inspection I am now realizing that the dial looks too small and may be from a 2754 with the same calibre 266. Doesn't make sense that I should see the movement extend past the dial-see 2nd photo.

Please feel free to give me the bad news...

Yes, I thought it was a 2754 based on the closeness of the applied omega logo and the geneve text. 2748 jumbo would have an ever so slight but noticeably larger space. Unfortunately the metal you see is a clear sign this is the case. If I were you I'd try and find a 2754 with a bad dial and transplant it as that dial is superb. Then sell the 2748 case as a spare part. The hands also appear to be for 2748, so would be best if you can find a 2754 with a bad dial, but good hands.. and in the meantime just enjoy it as it is. It's still a looker for sure 😀

Unfortunately I no longer have any 2748 references in my collection, but I do have a 2904 which is the same diameter and of course the dial extends right to the bezel:

Thanks Ollie, makes sense. Also noticing now that the hands appear long in comparison to other jumbo's I've looked at.

Thinking I may actually have a good looking and nicely patinated Geneve dial around somewhere that may in fact be a jumbo. Have no idea of where it is though.

Cheers,
Todd

If you measure it and post it on here we should be able to tell 😀

If I recall 2754 dials are 29mm and 2748 dials are 31mm

Just found the old dial I have. It is indeed the correct dial for a 2748
