·Hi Forum,
I recently came across the opportunity to buy some watches from a collector who was selling his collection off.
I bought them with the intend to flip the watches, to fund another urgent project (my car needs some TLC ).
I have already contacted the staff here and they gave me green light for the private sales forum (thanks again).
But before selling them here I'd like the collective knowlegde of the forum to chime in and help me to figure out if there is anything wrong with the two timepieces, so that the buyer will have the most disclosure possible as I'm not so knowledgable with the Seamaster and Geneve models, being more of a Speedmaster fan (pun intended).
The first watch is an Omega Geneve 166.041 Caliber 565,
the gold coating is in nice condition, the sunburst finish is still present and the dial is very clean.
Omega logo on the crystal is present.
The watch appears to me as if it wasn't worn much. The movement is very clean, according to my watchmaker, who opened up the watches for me. Watch runs fine, but should be serviced as service history is unknown.
The caseback has an engraving, for 25 years of employment. Maybe thats why the watch wasn't worn much or only for special occasions.
The watch comes with an original Omega Box, but I don't know if this type was original to the Geneve line of models. I don't see much that could be wrong with it, but if some of you experts do, please let me know !
On to the next one,
is a Omega Seamaster 165.003 with the 552 Caliber
The dial is nice an clean with a silver sunburst finish. But I'm not sure if it was redialed because I couldn't find any good reference pictures of this ref. number on the net that showed the fond big enough for me to compare.
I'm sure some of you will know more about this.
The case doesn't look overly polished to me, but again I don't have a good example to compare the original finish.
The movement is quite clean, the dots and specks on the polished surfarce of the rotor are from my watchmaker who touched it with some kind of clay-tool to see if it moves freely. I think it will need a movement service, it's running but I haven't tested it for accuracy.
The seal is hardened and surely needs replacing.
I think the crystal is not original, but maybe the omega logo was just polished of over the decades?
The watch again, comes in an original Omega Box.
Thats all the info I have on the watches so far. I'd love if you could help me fill in the gaps.
The watches will be up for sale here around the weekend.
I also bought a Ladys Seamaster cal. 630, a Seamaster Calendar 2849 and a Seamaster Sub Second 2846-3 SC Cal. 490.
But they are in so worse shape that they don't fit the quality of watches being sold here that I'd rather put them up on ebay. If there should be interest in those as well, i'll happily add them to this thread.
Thanks in advance,
Max aka. Speedmasterfan88
