I am trying to buy an Omega Geneve and would like to get some opinions from the forum to avoid buying a franken. From what I can tell, the watch looks legitimate per the listing on the vintage DB (https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-geneve-omega-md-135-0070/). I have a few questions: 1) Does it look like a repainted / refinished dial (is the font/spacing correct)? 2) Do dials from 1969 say "T Swiss Made T" as opposed to "Swiss Made"? 3) Does the movement look complete (aka not a franken movement)? 4) Does the crown look replaced? 5) Do Omega case backs from 1969 say "waterproof" on them? Sadly I was burned in the past buying a Geneve and would like to avoid making the same mistake.
Best way to avoid getting burned: https://omegaforums.net/threads/fs-vintage-omega-geneve-chronometer-18k-gold-serviced-reduced.70554/
I would say that listing is outside my current price range. I got burned last time because the seller did not mention that the watch used to be gold plated but had been stripped of the gold plating to make it a SS. Everything else on the watch was to specification. Any opinions on the one I listed? PS. Hook em'!
JimInOz: I am about to put an offer for $257. The seller has stated that the watch runs but has not been serviced. Do you believe this to be a fair price?
What sort of dollars? Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Liberia, Namibia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, United States?
The fact that he said Hook 'Em told me immediately that he was in the US. Sort of a secret handshake.
Well it was a Buy Now from eBay. Done deal now. Let's hope I don't find any surprises. Gotta love those secret handshakes.

That wasn't a bad grab and it should clean up nicely. The caliber 601 is one of my favourite movements. Make sure you get it serviced.
