Omega Genève cal. 1481 not running properly

I’m at my wits end with this watch. It’s a manual wind and it has always been giving me problems. The problem has always been that the seconds hand stops at 6 o clock. It would start up again if I shook it up a bit or winded the crown a bit. But now the seconds hand has also started stopping when it aligns with the minute hand. An omega repairer told me 600$ to service it and I felt that was a bit steep; mainly because I only payed 350$ for the watch.
Could there be some minor issue that is causing this malfunction that doesn’t warrant a full service? I’ve seen some threads here about springs and other things that doesn’t have to cost a fortune to repair. Could the seconds hand be slightly touching the glass by 6 o clock or something?
Thanks guys, hopefully someone has a remedy for this headache.

Two things, first your watch is an automatic not a manual wind - but it clearly needs a service. These watches are very reliable and comparatively straightforward for service and parts and, in the UK, you could expect to pay about £150 plus postage and parts for a service.

Post where you are and someone will be able to recommend a private watch servicer who knows about Omega.

600 USD it's very high for a service because you could just pay 400 USD at an auction on eBay and buy other in much better condition. And you will also have spare parts..😀

If the sweep hand always stops in the same place or when aligned with the minute hand, there could certainly be some mechanical interference/contact. It's your choice about the service, but given the condition of the watch, I would personally have a hard time investing $600 in that watch. My thinking would be to put it on eBay and see if you could get some of your money back.

Seconds hand coming into contact with the crystal at the 6 o'clock position, or coming into contact with the minute hand can easily provide enough resistance to stop the watch.

$600 seems high, would be worthwhile to call around for quotes.
