·You may want to ask the vendor how they know it has never been never been polished because it is quite a claim. Unless of course they have owned it since new....

While you're absolutely right, I'd first think about where this might lead. Yes, it's likely the seller hasn't owned it since new. If you're interested in buying it, what's the purpose of embarassing him though.
