So I am new in there group here.
At the moment I am on vacation and today I found something rather special on the street. A guy was selling a lot of stuff. It was mostly old garbage and one quartz watch except the one I found.
I picked it up, and it was a Omega Flightmaster from the 60's. I paid the guy 7 $ for the watch and went home. I was 100% sure that it was a cheap fake watch, but I was soon to think something else.
    Can anyone here help me?
It has a Omega Beads of rice bracelet, original omega plexiglass crystal, and original omega crown. When I bought the watch it was overwound. But when I came back to my appartment it started ticking, and it keeps time just perfect.
As Im on holiday im not able to open the watch. But from the pictures I post, would anyone be able to help confirm whether it is a fake watch or a legit Omega. I have no experience with Railmasters/flightmasters so I am now consulting this forum :)

    Definitely fake.

I'll double the money you lost and give you $14 for it!

    ;)

I will add some more photos. I can see that the crown is a newer Omega crown

Pop back and at least give the seller another $1000. It will be good for your karma.

PS: I don't think it's an original Omega bracelet. Do you have pics of the clasp?

Edit: Yes, it may be original but I don't think correct for the watch, I've not see those end shrouds before.

Should the caseback just have the Hippocampus, or should it have Flightmaster engraved too?

What I could read from the web was that some were engraved, and very few weren't. The engraving was done aftermarket for the Peru air force. And the few ones that weren't engraved were sold to the US army. But I don't know whether this is true

That clasp looks like it is from a 7077 bracelet.

Hopefully you've seen these posts on this forum:

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/straight-lug-flight-master-on-ebay.88181/page-2

The dial looks like the real thing to me. Hands look to be period correct replacements with an ugly re-lume job. The case has correct shape, but it needs to have the soft iron cover. I don't know about the bracelet, but the clasp looks period correct to me.

There is some more information along with archival material from Omega on the Peruvian Air Force Flighmasters here:

    https://www.watchbooksonly.com/omeg...ch/watch-reviews/the-very-first-flightmaster/

This one is probably worth the $150 or so to get the Extract of the Archives from Omega. That will give you some clues at to this watch's provenance.
