Omega f300 which ref?

Hi, i found this f300 tuning fork in a small vintage watch shop here in Italy
The shopkeeper claims it has been serviced and is working properly but personally I cannot locate / find which is the ref (198.xxx ??) and I fear that the dial belongs to some other model or the case is wrong.
Obviously I haven't concluded anything yet and I wanted some info.
He asks for € 350 and unfortunately the only photo I was able to take is this.
Thanks

They do come with the C-case, ask the owner to provide a photo of the caseback to confirm

I had one of these but I forgot the serial, could be a 198.002 but it's probably a bit different

The price is ok but on the high side, considering the dial condition (looks water damaged?)

300Hz watches have a lot of issues, but if it keeps time then it means the electronical part works ok

While setting time, some watches have their second hand move erratically, I consider this a mechanical issue and advertise it when I'm selling (getting rid of) a 300Hz

Haha, lol, is that an OM solid gold dial?

Good eye

same thought, I have always seen that dial tone mostly on gold or plated cases.
This is the reason why i open this thread.

after viewing tons of images and reading various websites, I believe that the case is of the ref 198.0030 and the dial 198.003 ..

I believe these 300Hz watches have the most dial variation out there, so many unexpected stuff, but I'm 95% leaning towards a case swap like you do, probably the original case bit the gold dust

Because gold is alluring I guess 😁
