Omega Dynamic III

After having to sell my Speedmaster 57 two months ago, it hasn’t taken me long to get another Omega. Just arrived was an accidental purchase (put a bid on it and then forgot about it), but it turns out to be quite nice.

It’s a Dynamic III from 1995, which needs a bit of a clean on the outside but the inside looks like it’s just been serviced inside. Going to find a NATO strap to put it on later on tonight.

I think it may be a keeper, although I have my eye on the new Seiko Alpinist limited edition. I may have to do a bit of grovelling to be allowed to buy that one as well!

Love it. Yours is a tritium model dating to ~1996/7 AFAIK. My SL 1998 says hi!

@Alan_C I've just noticed, the thread title has one too many I's. As you say in the text, this is a Dynamic 3, not 4!

I saw one for sale recently at a not too terrible price. I’ll see if I can find the link and pm it. I already have one.

Like that one?😎 I got mine first without bracelet and searched for three months for one. I was lucky to convince someone to sell me his bracelet off his watch.
I’m also a big fan of the military vibe those have. For me it’s my beater watch that I wear the most.

I find the bracelet to be heavy and uncomfortable. Such a great watch though. Did yours have the round anti-magnetic shield disc just inside between the movement and caseback?

Is there a forum specifically for these watches?

Yes. It did have the disc. I wondered what it was when I checked the movement.

The Dynamic III is such a cool watch. I like the font of the numerals and really appreciate how precisely the lume is applied. You can see the uniform white outline of the slightly larger white numerals printed on the dial, underneath the lume.

The hand set on the standard D III is great! Sure, it is impossible to be certain which end of the yellow second hand is the front or back. It reminds me of a compass needle.

Back on the topic of that yellow lume, how great is that colour. So much better than the trend of faux vintage lume. Road median paint yellow.

IMHO, skip the original bracelet and go for an interesting strap.
You have one of the rare Japanese market variations there so your experience is rather different to the std watch. The dial, hands and bracelet are different to the std model, or at least your bracelet is, that is more normally seen on a 19mm lug Speedmaster 7750 movement models and is very different to that on the std D3 but I guess may have been right on yours maybe or maybe not. I note the dial on that one shares similarities with the electric blue 2255 from the same era. There are a couple of threads discussing the rare D3 variations on here but they are from a few years ago. Nice!

Congrats on the pick up; I was fortunate to get both the date and the chrono version within a few weeks of each other. Love both of them on the bracelet.

Very nice. I really like the look of these Chrono and not. It’s weird I ran into someone selling the same Chrono model you have at what I think is a decent price. It’s really weird how when you are thinking of purchasing a watch I hunt around, try to find a good deal but also condition, service, warranty etc and I get annoyed because I can’t find what I think is a “good deal”. Now I am not actively seeking any watches as I’m holding off on purchases as I might get a (for me) little more expensive one in the next couple months now out of the blue I’ve run into two or three very nice watches at decent prices probably specifically because I’m trying not to buy anything right now.

anyway I like almost all of the dynamics. Perhaps you could help me out here. I know many of these dynamic chronos have the “stacked” movement. They have the module (I think that’s the correct word) for the Chrono models. Is that true with every dynamic with a chrono. I was talking to the seller asking him about it but he isn’t a watch guy he ended up getting it through a family member.

Anyway very nice looking watches congrats to all the owners.

I wouldn't get spooked over that type movement. Despite the rumors, they don't cost more to get serviced by Omega or a competent watch maker.

I took a peek at the AJTT and found a couple of references for the Chronograph movement, cal 1138. It runs at 28,800 Hz and consists of an ETA 2890-02 + Dubois Depraz 2030 (this is the modular add on). The chronograph case is thicker and definitely sits higher on the wrist.
I am not aware of any other chronograph in the Dynamic line (going back to the elliptic case and then the slated dial model), but would also be interested if others know more.

I had to sell mine and you don't know how I miss it, one of the watches I received the most compliments for. As soon as I can I will look to buy another one.

No It’s not so much that I’m spooked by them although I have read about inherent flaws with some. I really don’t know enough about them to have an educated discussion about them and I never dismiss something just because I don’t fully understand it. As a matter of a fact my knowledge is limited to the numerous posts here on the subject. So my post wasn’t so much about shooting those movements down just getting a better grip if they are in the dynamic chronos really just curiosity

I'm sensing they are gaining traction with watch enthusiasts and afraid they are going to be gaining in value quite a bit. I haven't seen any in my travels for the past year. I'm hoping to find a time-only on it's bracelet for cheap but I don't think that's gonna happen.

I think that's the only chrono movement that model used.
