Does anyone know when Omega stopped printing the name OMEGA on the dial and switched to using the gold letters? I saw a solid 14k gold Seamaster Deville with the date function in a one piece case this morning but the name was printed in black lettering rather than having the Omega name in gold letters. Looking online these solid gold one piece cased Seamaster Devilles seem to all have gold letters. Here's an example of what I mean: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-Vinta...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Hi, I do not think there were a date when Omega switched from the painted logo to the gold letters one. Both existed during the same time - although the painted logo started much before. And for many references, the painted logo remained the standard. But maybe you were only talking of Devilles?
Hi Francois, thank you for your reply. This watch was marked on the dial as Seamaster De Ville with the Omega printed under the Omega O on the dial. All the printing was in black.
Great link Vitezi, thank you very much for that Some good points in those comments that make sense regarding the printed and applied Omega name.
I ended up buying the watch I started this thread about. Here's a pic, let me know what you all think.
Thanks Thatguy . Oh! I have seen dials with the SWISS MADE spaced out in a similar manner and oddly enough all of them had a printed Omega rather than an applied Omega.
