Omega De Ville

Well, I buy them directly from Omega and they cost way more than what you are describing, so these are either old stock that Cousins is selling way under the current cost (which would be a bargain and I would buy up all they had for some models) or they are not genuine Omega crystals. It's a bit of both.

You might want to look at the site you posted a little closer...

If you follow your link and then click on the page for Omega crystals by size, the answer is there:

To show you the relevant text I took this screen shot - these are generic crystals...not Omega:

If I look at the Speedmaster crystal, it is again a generic crystal:

A new genuine Omega crystal would be close to 90 pounds based on Omega's current price. So the few they have that are real are indeed a bargain. These are likely obscure crystals because Cousins has not had access to buy genuine for 10 years now, so this is the left overs.
This is super helpful thanks so much!

Looks ok at first glance.

Interesting that you titled the thread DeVille, since the watch is labeled Geneve. I've also seen this reference with a Seamaster 600 dial. And it appears that you included a response to a post from a different thread?

Oh sorry there has been a few watches in this thread, the first one was deville. Is there anything I should look out for specifically with regards to fakes?

Sorry, this thread is too confusing, I don't know what we're talking about.

In general, the best way to identify a fake is to carefully study authentic/original watches for a long time. Then when you see a fake (or a watch with replacement parts), you will know it's not an authentic original watch because it doesn't look like an authentic original watch. You need to train yourself to know all the fine details. I'd say that's how most experienced people do it. That may sound difficult and not so helpful, but it's the truth.

The 135.011 looks real to me. The movement probably hasn't been serviced in a while since the caseback gasket is toast.

I found what appears to be the same listing (https://us.vestiairecollective.com/.../omega/white-steel-omega-watch-56385575.shtml) which has the watch priced at ~$1100 USD (before service fees + taxes). So besides evaluating for condition, I'd also recommend searching for comps to get a feel for what the market price should be. The current list is much higher than I'd expect to pay for this example.

Yes that’s the same listing I’m looking at, but has an offer for somewhere around 850. Is that more in line? I’m trying to get more information on the condition since there looks to be a scuff on the glass but it’s quite difficult.

I’m finding it a bit of a minefield to be honest, and difficult to find something with all the elements - dial without rust, case not too scratched, crown with the logo, engraved back, enough pictures of inside and outside, nice strap… the list goes on. It’s difficult to weigh up the best deal.

Despite the lovely, arty pictures, thats a $400 watch at best. The Geneve during this time was an entry level piece. Nothing wrong with that but it means that in good condition they’ve affordable. With spotting ont he dial they should be cheap. This one isn’t.

I stand corrected. Thank you.
Bit slippery of Cousins though, the link that I posted is where you get to when you click for "Genuine Omega parts." To have it then give you a link to non genuine crystals is a little underhand. I mean it's very probably an honest mistake on their part...
