Omega De Ville gold- legit lettering?

Hi guys,

My first post in this community so go easy on me!

It's the usual dilemma . Fallen in love with this vintage 1968 De Ville online listing - however the lettering, specifically the two 'L letters' looks quite bunched together on the pics. Is this legit?

Out of interest, how is the lettering on the dial applied in the first instance? Hand written, so in theory each watch is unique - or a standardised text?

Apologies for link only, but don't want to post images that don't belong to me.

Any advice is massively appreciated.

Please post photos so that the thread will have lasting value to the community. Links just disappear. If you have spent any time participating here, you will know that is the convention on the forum.

My apologies Dan.

I was not sure the etiquette/legals of posting the images from the listing here, as they of course do not belong to me. Would greatly appreciate any advice all the same - and next time will post solely pictures not links. Thank you!

Dials are printed from a master die using a cliche, which is like a rubber or silicone stamp.
Machines range from simple single press style to fully automatic multi-dial systems.

Google "how to print a watch dial".

Thank you Jim, that's very interesting. I'll have a look into that. Do you have any thoughts on the listing I posted, as given what you have described above the 'De Ville' lettering looks a tad off. might be overthinking it.

I'm reluctant to click on links unless I know they're from somebody I trust.

Just post the photos, they're not copyrighted if they're on an open sales site.

The print is on a textured (solid gold) dial so that could explain the variation.

Thanks Jim. The lettering is on a 18k linen effect gold dial. Interested in if anyone has any other thoughts on the dial.
